Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code
Aim:-Sketch of G+1 floor residential plan.
Introduction:- Plan is 20'*40' feet. According to Vaastu Shastra, Direction is provided to Rooms, Kitchen etc. And according
to the requirement, dimension is provided.
Important structural Drawings for Projects:-
a) Centre line drawing Layout
b) Footing and Column Layout with reinforcement details
c) Column Schedule with reinforcement details
d) Plinth beam layout with reinforcement details
e) First floor beam layout with reinforcement details

Given:-
-All columns are 300mm*300mm.
-All beams are 300mm*450mm.
-Slab thickness is 125mm.
-The Height of Wall is 4.5m.
Assume,
-Height of columns= 3m
-Unit weight of concrete= 25 KN/m^3
-Unit Weight of Brick wall= 20KN/m^3
-Thickness of outer wall= 230mm
-Thickness of inner wall= 115mm
-Area of slab= 1 sqm.
1) Dead Load:-
a) Column= Volume of concrete*Unit weight of concrete
= 0.3*0.3*3*25
= 5.75 KN
b) Beam= Volume of concrete*Unit weight of concrete
= 0.3*0.45*25
= 3.375 KN/m
c) Outer Brick Wall= Thickness of outer wall*Height of wall*Unit Weight of Brick Masonary
= 0.23*4.5*20
= 20.70 KN/m
d) Inner Brick Wall= Thickness of inner wall*Height of wall*Unit Weight of Brick Masonary
= 0.115*4.5*20
= 10.350 KN/m
d) Slab= Volume of concrete*Unit weight of concrete
= 1*0.125*25
= 3.125 KN
2) Live Load:-
-From IS 875:1987 part 2- Table no. 1 (clauses 3.1, 3.1.1, 4.1.1),
For Residential Building,
All rooms and kitchens- 2.0 KN/m^2.
Toilet and Bathroom- 2.0 KN/m^2.
Corridors, Passages, Staircases including tire escapes and store rooms- 3.0KN/m^2.
Balconies- 3.0KN/m^2.
3) Wind Load:-
-The intensity of the wind load depends upon the velocity of wind, size and height of the building.
-Wind load is considered to act uniform upto a height of 30m.
-Above 30m the wind load intensity increases.
-Design Wind Pressure is calculated using the expression:
Pz= 0.6Vz^2
= 0.6*37.312^2
= 835.311 N/m^2
Where, Pz= Wind Pressure @height 'z' in N/m^2.
Vz= Design wind speed @ height 'z' in m/s.
= Vb.K1.K2.K3.K4
= 44*1*0.80*1.06
= 37.312 m/s
Where, Vb=Basic wind speed= 44m/s (IS-875:1987 part-3, Appendix-A, Clause 5.2)
K1= Probability Factor= 1= (From table-1,IS-875:1987 part-3,clause 5.3.1)
K2= Terrain roughness and height factor= 0.80 (From table-2,Terrain category-4 class-A, IS-875:1987 part-
3,clause 5.3.2.2)
K3= Topography factor= 1+Cs(From IS-875:1987 part-3,C-2, Appendix C)
= 1+1.2*0.05 (C=For greater than 3 degree is 1.2, s= IS-875:1987 part-3, Fig. no. 14)
= 1.06
K4= Importance Factor(Only for cyclonic region so not considered in this calculation)
