Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code
AIM:
- To sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
- Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.
INDIAN STANDARD CODES USED FOR THE DESIGN:
IS456:2000 revised in 2016 for reinforced cement concrete.
IS875:1987 part-1 for dead loads.
IS875:1987 part-2 for live loads.
IS875:1987 part-3 for wind loads.

VAASTU SHASTRA:
The main door should be constructed in a way to ensure that when you step out, you face the North, East or in the North-east direction brings positive energy.
Lving room is placed in north east direction gives positive energy.
kitchen room is placed in south east direction ensures a healthy life for family growth.
Master bedroom is placed in south west direction brings good health and prosperity.
Guest bedroom is placed in north west direction brings convenience and comfort for the guests.
Study room Placing a table in the North-East or West direction is ideal.
Toilets should be placed in the North-West is best.
Stair cases should be placed in the South-West is best.

LOAD CALCULATIONS:
DEAD LOAD:
DEAD LOAD OF THE COLUMNS:
Column dimensions are 300mm x 300mm
Volume of the columns=0.3*0.3*3.5
= 0.315 m^3.
Unit weight of the concrete=25 KN/m^3.
Dead load of the columns=0.315*25
=7.875 KN.
DEAD LOAD OF THE BEAMS:
Beam dimensions are 300mm x 450mm
Volume of the beams=0.3*0.45
= 0.135 m^2.
Unit weight of the concrete=25 KN/m^3.
Dead load of the beams=0.135*25
=3.375 KN/m.
DEAD LOAD OF THE SLAB:
Slab thickness = 125mm
Unit weight of the concrete=25 KN/m^3.
Dead load of the slab=0.125*25
=3.125 KN/m^2.
DEAD LOAD OF THE WALLS:
Thickness of the wall=230mm
Volume of the wall=0.23*3.5
=0.805 m^2.
Unit weight of the bricks=20 KN/m^3.
Dead load of the walls=0.805*20
=16.1 KN/m
LIVE LOADS:
As per IS : 875 ( Part 2 ) - 1987 the live load of the residential buildings
Bed rooms = 2.0 KN/m^2
Living room = 2.0 KN/m^2
Toilet = 2.0 KN/m^2
Bathrooms = 2.0 KN/m^2
Staircase = 3.0 KN/m^2
kitchen = 2.0 KN/m^2
WIND LOAD:
As per IS : 875 ( Part 3 ) - 1987 the wind load is designed only when the building exceeds 10m.Here in this case the height of the building is 8m.There fore the caluculation of wind load is not required.
RESULT:
- A G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra has been drawn.
- The names of the structural drawings required for the site for construction is provided.
- The individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code is calculated.
