Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

AIM:To sketch a G+1 floor residential plan,based on VAASTU SHASTRA.

VAASTU SHASTRA:

  1. Vaastu shastra is the ancient indian science of architecture and acts as a guideline to design your home in the way that enhances positive energy.
  2. Our nature is abundant with powerhouses of energy sources like wind,moon,water,earth and fire.
  3. A good home needs to radiate the right kind of energy.
  4. Effect of sunrays, flow of winds, pull of earth's magnetic feild and other such cosmic energies.
  5. Aperson dwelling in a house comes under the influence of a specific energy field which comes under the influence of specific energy feild.

IMPORTANT STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS FOR A PROJECT:

  • Centre line drawing
  • Footing and Column with reinforcement details
  • Column Schedule with reinforcement details
  • Plinth beam layout with reinforcement details
  • First floor beam layout with reinforcement details
  • First floor slab layout with reinforcement details
  • Lift pit and Headroom reinforcement details.

AIM: To assume sizes of the structural element and calculate the corresponding loads from the members as per IS CODE.

PROCEDURE:

A.)Assumed dimensions of structural members:

  • Column=300 mm*300 mm
  • Beam=200 mm*400 mm
  • Thickness of slab=150 mm
  • Wall height=3 m=3000 mm
  • Thickness of exterior wall=230 mm;
  • Thickness of interior wall=150 mm
  • Riser (R)=300 mm
  • Tread (T)=150 mm
  • Depth of waist slab=250 mm
  • Depth of landing slab=200 mm

B.)DEAD LOAD CALCULATIONS:

  • Unit weight of RCC=25 kN/m^3;
  • Unit weight of brickwork=20 kN/m^3;
  • Self-weight of column=0.30*0.30*3*25=6.75 kN
  • Self-weight of beam=0.2*0.4*25=2 kN/m
  • Self-weight of slab=0.15*25=3.75 kN/m^2
  • Self-weight of exterior wall=0.23*3*20=13.8 kN/m
  • Self-weight of ceiling=0.25 kN/m^2 (As per IS 875-PART 1)
  • Self-weight of roofing=0.83 kN/m^2(As per IS 875-PART 1)
  • Floor finish=1 kN/m^2

C.)SELF-WEIGHT OF STAIRCASE:

  • Inclined length=square foot(150^2+300^2)=335 mm
  • Self-weight of waist slab=(0.335/300)*25*25=6.97 kN/m
  • Self-weight of steps=(0.5*0.15*25)=1.875 kN/m
  • Self-weight of landing slab=0.2*25=5 kN/m^2

D.)LIVE LOAD as per IS 875 PART-2:

  • Kitchen=2 kN/m^2
  • Living room=2 kN/m^2
  • Toilet and bathroom=2 kN/m^2
  • Staircase = 3 kN/m^2
  • Store room=3 kN/m^2
  • Balconies = 3 kN/m^2
  • Bedroom = 2 kN/m^2

E.)WIND LOAD: Wind load is to be calculated as per IS 875 PART-3.

*Wind load cannot be calculated as the height of the building is less than 10m.
