Dimensions of the rooms assumed on ground floor are:

Bedroom: 4.40 x 4.77m

Kitchen: 3.95 x 3.35m

Dinning room: 3.95 x 2.60m

Living room: 3.95 x 5.11m

Kid room: 4.10 x 2.40m

Toilet: 4.1 x 1.17m.

Dimensions of the rooms assumed on First floor are:

Bedroom: 4.40 x 4.77m

Guest room: 3.95 x 3.35m

Hall: 3.95 x 6.44m.

Kid room: 4.10 x 2.40m

Toilet: 4.1 x 1.17m.

Toilet (common): 2.30 x 1.27m.

Assumed dimensions of other utilities in house

  • Thickness of external walls as 0.230m.
  • Dimension of each column as 0.3m * 0.3m
  • Dimension of each beam as 0.3m * 0.45m
  • Height of each floor as 3m
  • Thickness of slab as 250mm or 0.250m
  • Thickness of internal walls as 0.150m.
  • Dimension of a main door as 1.8m x 2.4m
  • Dimension of Internal doors as 1 m x 2m
  • Dimension of window in living room as 1.8m * 1.8m
  • Dimension of window in bedroom as 1.8m * 1.8m
  • Dimension of window in Kitchen as 1m * 1.5m
  • Dimensions of ventilator in bathroom as 0.4m * 0.3

The general structural drawings that are prepared are as follows.

  • General Notes and Typical sections
  • Foundation excavation plan and Footing sections
  • Ground floor column plan and Column sections
  • Ground floor plinth beams plan and Plinth beams sections
  • Ground floor beam plan and Beam sections
  • Ground floor slab top and bottom rebar detail
  • Ground floor slab section
  • First floor beam plan and Beam sections
  • First floor slab top and bottom rebar detail
  • First floor slab section
  • 11 Roof Parapet Wall plan
  • Overhead water tank

Vastu Shastra followed as:

  • There are 2 bedrooms on the Ground Floor
  • the kitchen is in the Southeast direction.
  • Dining near the kitchen is in the east.
  • The Living room is available in the Northeast direction.
  • The master bedroom is available in the southwest direction with the attached toilet is in the west direction.
  • The kid's bedroom is in the northwest.
  • On the first floor, The Hall is available in the Northeast direction.
  • The master bedroom is available in the southwest direction with the attached toilet is in the west direction.
  • The kid's bedroom is in the west direction.
  • The guest bedroom is available in the southeast direction.
  • The common toilet is in the east.
  • A staircase is available in the northwest Direction inside of the house.

Load calculations for the building:

1.Dead Load

Columns:

The total load of each column is calculated from the total volume of column and the unit weight of concrete.

The height of column from ground = Slab thickness * 2+height of each floor X 2

= (0.250 x 2) + (3 x 2) = 6.5m

Size of the column is 0.3m * 0.3m.

The volume of each column is 0.3 x0.3 x 6.5 = 0.585m3.

Unit weight of reinforced concrete = 25KN/m.

Dead load due to each column = 25 x 0.585 = 14.625KN

Beams:

The dead load of the beam is calculated from the cross-sectional area and unit weight of concrete where the load is calculated in KN/m.

The dimensions of beam are 0.30 x 0.45m.

Unit weight of reinforced 0ncrete = 25KN / m3.

Dead load due to beam = 25 x 0.30 x 0.45 = 3.375KN/m.

Walls:

The dead land of the wall is calculated from the cross-sectional area of brick wall and unit weight of brick wall where the load is calculated in KN / m.

Thickness of external wall considered here is 230mm.

Thickness of internal wall considered here is 150mm.

Height of each wall is 3m i.e. floor height difference.

Unit weight of brick wall = 20kN / m3.

Dead due to external wall = 20 x 0.23 x 3 = 13.8KN/m.

Dead load due to internal wall=20 x 0.15 x 3 = 9KN/m.

It is important to note that wall openings should be removed when total load is being calculated. Wall openings such as doors, windows, ventilators etc.

Slab:

The dead load of the slab is calculated from the thickness of slab and unit weight of reinforced concrete where the load is calculated in KN/m2.

Thickness of slab considered is 250mm or 0.25m.

Unit weight of reinforced concrete = 25KN/m2.

Dead load of slab perm m2 =25 x 0.25 x 1 x 1=6.25KN/m2.

While calculating slab dead load over bathrooms as the slab provided is a sunken slab the thickness of slab is changed to sunken slab thickness. Generally sunken by 250 to 300mm depth.

  1. Live Load Calculation

As per Table 1 of IS 875-III (2015) , for residential building,

Living / Dinning room = 2KN / m2

Kitchen - 2kN / m2

Bedroom/ Guest room/ Kid Bedroom = 2KN / m2)

Bathroom = 2KN / m2

Terrace acc - 3KN / m2

  1. Wind Load Calculation:

The height of the house is 6.5 m. The wind load acting on the structure is not significant for structures whose height is less than 10 m Therefore. 6.5m < 10m. Hence no need to design for Wind Load.

Results:

  • The residential plan for a G+1 storey house is made in Revit 2019.
  • The plan consists of 2 x Master Bedrooms, 1 x Guest Bedroom, 2 x Kids Bedroom, 1 x Living room, 1 x Hall, I x Kitchen, 3x Toilet.
  • The residential plan is made by using Vastu Shastra to enhance positive energy in the home.
  • The dimensions of beam, column, thickness of wall and slab are assumed as per IS Code.
  • For the G+1 building, the opening to first floor along with stairs is given as same size of Living room.

Notes for Plan:

  • All dimensions are in Meters
  • Direction Sign is given.
