Section Modulus calculation and optimization
SECTION MODULUS :
Secton Modulus is a geometric property used to calculet the bneding stresses in a structural member. It is defined as the ratio of the moment of inertia of a section about its centroidal axis and to the distance of the extreme layer from the natural axis.
Secton Modulus (S) =I/Y
I =Moment of inertia of structure.
Y= Disatnce between the natural axis and the extreme end of the object.
CASE 1 :
From the hood which is already designed is imported and the section inertia analysis is done on closed curve.

After section inertia analysis is done,
MOI(Max) = 4.851670545e +06[mm^4]
MOI(Min) = 1.472105400e+04 [mm^4]
Section Modulus (S) = I/Y
The total distance of the hood = 875.9385
Then Y = 875.9385/2
= 437.969
Therefore S = 147210.5400/437.969 (Minimum moment inertia is considerd)
S = 336.120 mm^3
CASE 2 :
After changing the distance between the hood outer panel and the inner panel, the section inertia analysis is done.

From section inertia analysis,
MOI(Max) =4.793859690e+06 [mm^4]
MOI(Min) =1.479212843e+04[mm^4]
section modulus (S) = 147921.2843/437.969
S = 337.743 mm^3
CONCLUSION :
From the above calculations in case 1 and case 2, I get some differances. The section modulus value of case 2 is higher than the case 1. So when we increase the section area, the moment of inertia and section modulus increses which means the strength also increases.
