REVIT_Usage of Collabrate tool_Week 6
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.
AIM: Set the base point of the project using manage tab and project shared coordinates fro the project.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Architectural tab
Grids
Manage tab
Collaborate
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open Revit.
Step-2: Select the architectural tab.
Step-3: Select grids and draw grids and rename them.

Step-4: Now select the manage tab and select the drop-down of coordinates.

Step-5: Now choose specify coordinates at point.

Step-6: Select the grid point and specify them as 0’0” in specify shared coordinates dialog box.

Step-7: Select the collaborate tab and collaborate the drawing.
RESULT:
Based on manage tab, base point of the project and shared coordinates of the project are set successfully in architectural template.
2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.
AIM: Create a structural template and using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Structural template
Grids
Manage tab
Collaborate
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open Revit.
Step-2: Select the structural template.
Step-3: Select grids and draw grids and rename them.

Step-4: Now select the manage tab and select the drop-down of coordinates in manage tab panel.

Step-5: Now choose the specify coordinates at point.

Step-6: Now choose the grid points and specify the points as 0’0”.
Step-7: Now select the collaborate tab and collaborate the drawing.
Step-8: Save the file with appropriate name.
RESULT:
Based on manage tab, base point of the project and shared coordinates of the project are set successfully in structural template.
3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model.
AIM: Collaborate the drawing.
TOOLS/COMMANDS:
Collaborate
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open the architectural template in Revit file.
Step-2: Select the collaborate tab and select collaborate.
Step-3: Option will appear as how will the file be collaborated.
Step-4: Select the option within the network and select OK.
RESULTS:
The drawing is collaborated successfully.
4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2.
AIM: To create the longitudinal and transverse pattern grids for the project.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Architectural tab
Grids
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open the architectural template in Revit.
Step-2: Select grids.
Step-3: Draw grids with an offset of 20’.
Step-4: Rename the grids according to the standards.

RESULTS:
Longitudinal and transverse grid patterns for the project are created successfully.
5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
AIM: To synchronize the changes from the local copy to central file.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Architectural tab
Collaborate
Synchronize
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open the architectural Revit file.
Step-2: Select the collaborate tab.
Step-3: Now select the drop-down at synchronize with central.

Step-4: Now choose the synchronise and modify settings.
Step-5: Now the project will be synced with the central.
RESULTS:
The project is synchronized successfully with the central.
6) Open the structural model and using the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
AIM: To collaborate structural model as a central file.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Collaborate
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open the structural template in Revit.
Step-2: Select the collaborate tab and select collaborate.
Step-3: Now aa dialog box of collaborate appears.
Step-4: Select within your network and click OK.

RESULTS:
The structural model is collaborated successfully as a central file.
7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model.
AIM: Select grids and levels using collaborate tool in architectural model and copy it to the structural model using copy monitor.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Collaborate
Copy monitor
Select link
Copy
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open the architectural tab and select collaborate.
Step-2: Select copy monitor and choose select link so that the drawing is linked.

Step-3: Now select grids and levels and select multiple.
Step-4: Now select copy.
Step-5: Select the finish command.
Step-6: Now select the structural template file and now grids and levels and columns will be found in structural template.
RESULTS:
Grids and levels are selected using collaborate tool in architectural tab and are copied to structural tab successfully using copy monitor.
8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
AIM: Create constructionl template and save it as central model and then link both architectural and structural files.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:
Collaborate

Manage links
PROCEDURE:
Step-1: Open a Revit file in construction template.
Step-2: Now select the collaborate tool and select collaborate.
Step-3: Select within your network in collaborate dialog box.
Step-4: Now select the manage tab and select manage links.

Step-5: Now select both architectural and structural files in the manage links dialog box.
Step-6: Click OK.
RESULTS:
A Construction file is created and saved and both architectural and structural files are linked to the construction template using manage links.
9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes, the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point) to link the models in an appropriate manner.
AIM: To insert grids from structural template to the architectural template and check whether they are coinciding with each other.
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED:

Step-5: Now select the architectural tab and select grids.
Step-6: Now go to manage tab and select drop down of coordinates.
Step-7: Now choose acquire coordinates and the get the grids coincided.

RESULTS:
The grids of structural are inserted to architectural templates and are successfully coincided.
10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously.
