a. Multi Unit Residential Apartment
b. Office Buildings
c. School
Sol: I will select the Multi Unit Residential apartment.
Question 2: Assume reasonable assumptions for geographic and location details for your project modeling. Based on assumptions and type of structure selected identify the modeling requirements from NBC.
Sol: Based on my assumptions for geographic and location details are:
· It is in Residential area.
· It is in Plains.
· The Road width is 30’.
As per NBC requirements:
· Taking the size of the rooms as per NBC.

Aim: To create a Structural model which includes Foundation, Columns, beams, Roof Framing/Truss, Floor/Decks, Floor openings.
Procedure:
Step 1: Open an existing structural model which already created, collaborated and saved as a central file. The structural file already created includes longitudinal and transverse grids, and the shared coordinates are already set as 0’.(Shafaqat week 6 Structural).

Step 2: Go to the structure Tab, Click on the levels to set the levels like Ground floor, foundation, First Floor, Second Floor, Third Floor, Roof. The levels are created at Different heights.

Foundation at -5’, Ground Floor at 12’, First Floor at 12’, Second Floor at 24’, Third Floor at 36’, Roof at 45’.

Step 3: Click on the grid A, click on the pin option so that its characteristics does not change. For grid 1 do the same to make it pinned.

Step 4: Go to the Structure Tab, Click on the Grid option to create the grid patterns in the Ground Floor.

Set the at equal intervals from each other like 32’.
Also set the proper name, A,B,C,D,E for the transverse grids and 1,2,3,4,5,6 for longitudinal grids

Step 5: Go to the Structure Tab, click on the Column option. Select the Add Grids option to create the column in the intersection of the grids.

Step 8: Go to the Architecture Tab, Select the Beam option

After selecting the Beam option select the line option or pick lines to create the beams.

Go to the 3D option to view that the beams has setup in the model.

Step 9: For creating the foundations, we have three types of structural foundations, isolated foundation, wall foundation and Slab foundation. We will create a slab foundation. Select the Slab foundation. Isolated foundation is not loaded in my system, so I have created a Slab foundation.

Select the Rectangle option or pick lines to select the boundaries for the Foundation.

After selecting boundaries click on the finish to set the foundation.

Go to the 3D view.

Step 10: Select the entire model created, Select the filter option to remove the unwanted components like foundation.

Step 11: Click on the copy option to copy the selected components,
And click on the paste option, and click on the Aligned to selected levels option

Select the Levels on which we are setting the entire elements, so we select First floor, second floor and third floor. And click ok.

Go to the 3D view to view that the other floor are created.

Step 12: Go to the Structural tab, select the Floor option, click on the Floor structural option to create the floor in the building.

Select the Line option to select the boundary for the floor.

After selecting the boundary, click on finish option.
Go to the 3D view to view that the floor has been created into the building.

Step 13: Select the created Floor, click the copy option.

Select the paste option, Click on the Aligned to selected levels option to select the different levels on which the floor is to be pasted.

A window appears to select the levels. Select First Floor, Second Floor and Third Floor and click ok.

Go to the 3D view to see that the Floor has been pasted into the respective floor levels.

Truss is not loaded in my system.
Step 14: To create the roof, Go to the Architecture Tab, click on the Roof option, Click on the Roof by footprint option.

Click on the line option to select the boundary for the roof.

After selecting the boundary, click on the finish option, the roof will be created.

Result: Go to the 3D view that the building is properly created.

Question 4: Using the architectural model, include the following components based on the type of structure selected
a. Wall Layout with appropriate material and finishing
b. Exterior façade with fancy finish
c. Interior partition walls to size rooms
d. Components to add details to room ( Desk, Chair, Lighting, Plumbing fixtures)
e. Add components such as stairs Elevators
f. Have at-least one side of building with curtain walls and glass panels
g. Include interior and exterior lighting fixtures
h. Place proper topographic components from outside ( Trees, Parking, Plants) to add details to the model
Aim:
Procedure:
Step 1: Open the architecture Model linked with the structural model. We can see the model is already created.

Step 2: Go to the View option, Click on the Plan view to create the plans like Ground floor, First Floor, THIRD FLOOR, ROOF.

Select all the floors and click ok.

Step 3: Go to the architecture Tab, click on the Wall option, click on the wall architecture option to create the wall.

Draw the walls, and go to the properties to set the base constraint as Ground floor and the top constraint as roof.
The 3D view will look as

Step 4: select the front walls , go to the properties and change the walls as curtain walls.
Step 5: select the walls, go to the properties and change the wall material as required.I choose it as light concrete and click ok. The wall material has changed.

Step 6: Go to the ground floor Plan, Click on the Wall option from the Architecture Tab to create the interior walls,Go to the properties select the wall type as interior walls.

Draw the partition walls as required.

Step 7: select the interior walls, click on the copy option, click on the paste, click on the Aligned to selected levels and paste in the levels as First, Second , third floors.

Click on the Rectangle option to select the boundary for the floor. After creating the boundary click Finish option.

Step 8: go to the architecture tab, click on the Floor option, click on the Floor architecture to create floor throughout the building at ground floor level.

We will see that the floor has been created.

Step 9 : Go to the properties, click on the families option ,select the Planting option to add the plants in the model.

We have added the plants as we can see in the 3D view

Step 10: Also we can select families and select the furniture option to add the furniture like tables, chairs etc. which we want. So we will add tables.

Step 11: Go to the Shaft opening option to create an opening in the building for elevators.

Click on the rectangle option to select the boundary.

After creating the boundary, click on the finish option.

Select the opining created, and go to the properties option select the base constraint as Ground floor and the top constraint as Third floor.
