REVIT_Analysing the building & Report preparation_Week 8
1)What are HVAC systems ? Why are they essential in modeling of buildings
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system is designed to achieve the environmental requirements of the comfort of occupants and a process. The basic components or equipment of an HVAC system that delivers conditioned air to satisfy thermal comfort of space and occupants and the achieve the indoor air quality are Mixed-air plenum and outdoor air control,Air filter,Supply fan,Exhaust or relief fans and an air outlet,Outdoor air intake,Ducts,Terminal devices,Return air system,Heating and cooling coils,Self-contained heating or cooling unit,Cooling tower,Boiler,Control,Water chiller,Humidification and dehumidification equipment.
2)From week 7 assignment, based on the building designed use the same revit file to design a HVAC system for each floor to cover the topics included in class.
a. Typical HVAC unit includes Distribution center
b. Collector
c. Ducts
d. Blower
Based on the layout choose appropriate ducts and elevation using property browser and assign the components to appropriate groups to complete modeling of HVAC unit
AIM:
To apply typical HVAC unit includes Distribution centre , collector ,ducts ,blower.
PROCEDURE :
- open mechanical template and link the architectural model which is done before
- the model and link the architectural model

- click on system tab

- air terminal > supply diffuser > return diffuser > Air handling unit > duct

click okay > generate layout .
RESULT:

SAME PROCEDURE IS FOLLOWED FOR LEVEL 2

3) Use the add-ins tab to load plug-ins for robot structural analysis to your Revit software
AIM :
To add structural analysis to my software.
PROCEDURE :
Open structural template project
add the structural analysis tool kit using the cart
as my software is 2019 i have added 2019 toolkit
RESULT :

4) Why do we need to assess buildings /analyze while modeling elements ? Does design affect modeling in anyways ?
Structural engineers are primarily concerned with the safety and stability of structures that they design. Structural analysis is the main tool that structural engineers use to ensure that a structure can withstand the various types of forces that it will encounter during its normal operation.Structural design plays an important role in construction projects. Structural design is conducted by a structural engineer whose role is to ensure the safety, stability and performance of the structure. Civil engineers use structural analysis to assess the forces that could act on a structure and to choose materials and reinforcements that will effectively withstand those forces.
5) From the structural model developed in week 6 and 7, export the complete analytical model to robot structural analysis.
a. List your assumptions on what boundary conditions will be realistic for analysis approach
b. Use the design standards to decide what loads must be applied to floorings based on the type of structure decided
c. List the load combinations and include them in analysis model
d. Analyze the building and report the following results
i. Maximum Moment in each floor for all Load Combinations
ii. Maximum Displacement in each floor for all Load combinations
iii. Lateral Displacement in building for all Lateral Load combinations
e. After analysis , do you think you have a better approach or idea in modeling structural members ?
AIM:
To develope a structural model using analysis tool kit
PROCEDURE :
- add the link of the previous model
- after linking the week 7 model
- A boundary condition is a place on a structure where either the external force or the displacement are known at the start of the analysis.
- so the boundary conditions are attached .
- transfer this model to the Robot structural analysis

click on loads > Automatic loads .

6) What is energy analysis and why do we need to consider it while modeling in Revit ?
How does the factor of sustainability improve the quality of your design ?
ENERGY ANALYSIS :
Energy analysis is a common tool to investigate a system's performance and can be used to evaluate energy/fuel use and energy efficiency.Energy analysis is a thermodynamic tool that has been used to assess energy systems' sustainability. Thermodynamic-based indicators in sustainability are novel, and the concept is slowly growing within the scientific community.
FACTOR OF SUSTAINABILITY :
Factor of sustainability includes factors like energy efficiency , external benefits of the building , material efficiency and so on helps to sustain the building and also helps to improve the design and also makes the building stronger .
