Reinforcement detailing of Columns from ETABS output

Reinforcement detailing of columns in Etabs 2018.

The ETABS file for a G+4 building is provided. Run the analysis and design the RCC Moment Resisting Frame. The following challenge deals specifically with two columns at the following grid intersections.

  1. 3A
  2. 3B
  • Provide details of longitudinal reinforcement for the two columns, from foundation to terrace level. Sketch the column cross sectional & elevation details or draft it using autocad software.
  • Show shear reinforcement & lapping details as per special confining reinforcement provision of clause 8.1 of IS 13920 - 2016.

AIM:

To provide the details of longitudinal reinforcement for the two columns (3A & 3B), from foundation to terrace level.

PROCEDURE:

             Step 1: Open the file:

                       - After downloading the Challenge open it in the ETABS 2018, as shown below.

             Step 2: Select Column:

                         - From bottom change one storey to all stroies

                         - Select required column .

                         - Right click - select show selected objects only

             Step 3: Run analysis:

                          - Click on run analysis for run anlysis

Step 4: Run Concrete frame design:

                         - For run concrete frame design click on cconcrete frame design

                         - Click on Start Design/Check Option to start designing and wait for it to finish.

             Step 5: Create 3D View:

                         - Go to 3d view

Step 6: See the elevation of building:

                         -  Click on elevation - select 3 - apply - close

                         -  Now change it to the Elevation View

Step 7: Shear reinforcing of 3A and 3B

                         -  Now select concrete frame design arrow - choose display design info

                        .

                          - Now the designing is complete, In order to view the longitudinal and  Shear reinforcement details click on Concrete frame design followed by  Shear and longitudinal reinforcement details from the drop down list

                      Shear reinforcement:

                      longitudinal reinforcement:

RESULT: Run the analysis and design the RCC Moment Resisting Frame for grid 3A and 3B

                                                                              Shear reinforcement

                                                                                 longitudinal reinforcement:

2) Provide details of longitudinal reinforcement for the two columns, from foundation to terrace level. Sketch the column cross sectional & elevation details or draft it using autocad software.

Show shear reinforcement & lapping details as per special confining reinforcement provision of clause 8.1 of IS 13920 - 2016.

AIM: To draw column cross sectional & elevation details  in autocad

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1: Reinforcement detail of 3A:

                      - The reinforcement details for the column 3A is given as

                      - Here the maximum longitudinal reinforcement required is 7027mm⊃2;.

                      - Hence, provide 8 no.s of 32mm dia bars and 2 no.s of 20mm dia bars which together Contributes an Ast of 7060mm2

                      - Now, for shear reinforcement, the maximum reinforcement area required is 720mm2.

                      - Hence, provide 10mm dia bars @ 150mm c/c at zone A anda spacing of 100mm c/c at zone

                      - B (at splicing location and near the beam) which contributes to an Ast of 1570mm⊃2; and 2355mm⊃2; respectively.

STEP 2: Draw  Reinforcement detail of 3A:

                      - we need to draft the column details on an AutoCAD for that open autocad. set unit as a mm then draw details by suing differnet tools like as line, offset, dimension etc

STEP 3: Reinforcement detail of 3B:

The reinforcement details for the column 3B is given as:

                      - Here the maximum longitudinal reinforcement required is 5046mm2

                      - Hence, provide 4 no.s of 32mm dia bars and 6 no.s of 20mm dia bars which together Contributes an Ast of 5100mm⊃2;

                      -  Now, for shear reinforcement, the maximum reinforcement area required is 720mm2.

                      -  Hence, provide 10mm dia bars @ 150mm c/c at zone A and a spacing of 100mm c/c at zone B (at splicing location and near the beams), which contributes to an Ast of 1570mm⊃2; and 2355mnm⊃2; respectively.

STEP 3: Draw  Reinforcement detail of 3B:

                      - we need to draft the column details on an AutoCAD for that open autocad. set unit as a mm then draw details by suing differnet tools like as line, offset, dimension etc

RESULT:

To draw column cross sectional & elevation details  in autocad  according to  provision of clause 8.1 of IS 13920 - 2016.
