Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

M0DELLING AND ASSEMBLING OF SUNSEEKER PREDATOR YACHT
- Introduction:
This project report is about 3D modelling, assembling and rendering a yacht using SolidWorks for 3D modelling & SolidWorks Visualize/Photoview360 for photo realistic rendering.
- Objective:
The aim of this Project is to modelled a yacht using SolidWorks and create a photorealistic rendering of Yacht.
- HULL
Hull is the base of the yacht and it is a symmetric model. Therefore it is enough to model one half and the other half could be mirrored.
First, the hull is developed in surface modelling, then after completing the model by surface it is converted to solid and proceeded with solid modelling. This is because hull consists of surface with complex curvature, therefore it is wise to model with surface then convert it as solid.

Figer No. 1
Commands used: 3D sketch, Loft Surface, Sweep Surface, Trim Surface, Ruled Surface, Boundary Surface, Surface Extrude, Knit Surface, Reference Plane, Fill Surface, Sweep, Extrude, Cut Extrude (offset from surface),Revolve, Shell, Fillet, Chamfer, Split (with consume cut body and the removed body is saved as a different part in the name of garage door) .
- Super Structure
It is placed on the top of the hull. It is also a symmetric model therefore it is enough to model one half so that the other half could be mirrored. It is modelled in a way same as hull, the model is started in surface modelling with a deck surface imported from hull as reference. The desired surfaces are modeled and the surface model is converted into solid and proceeded with solid modelling.

Figer No. 2
Commands used: 3D sketch, Loft Surface, Sweep Surface, Trim Surface, Ruled Surface, Boundary Surface, Surface Extrude, Knit Surface, Reference Plane, Fill Surface, Sweep, Extrude, Cut Extrude (offset from surface), Revolve, Shell, Dome, Fillet, Chamfer.
- Radar
Radar is a device used for detecting objects. It is a very important device in any yacht/ship. It is mated with a part called radarmast and placed on the topmost part of the yacht. It is modelled only in solid modelling. it is a symmetric model so the other half is mirrored. The name is engraved using text and cut extrude (offset from surface) commands.

Figer No. 3
Commands used: Extrude, pattern (Sketch driven), fillet, mirror
- Radarmast
It is a device that comes along with radar it is used to control the position and direction of radar. It also processes the signals which are sent and received. It is modelled based on the deck surface imported from the superstructure

Figer No. 4
Commands used: Revolve, extrude, project curve, sweep, reference plane, dome, fillet, chamfer etc.
- Garage Door
This part is modelled in a solid model which was saved when split command was used during modelling hull. The part is retrieved and is used for the construction of the garage door. It is a symmetric model, therefore the other half is mirrored. The name is engraved using text and cut extrude (offset from surface) commands.

Figer No. 5
Commands used: cut extrude, extrude, fillet, chamfer and mirror.
- Propeller
Propeller looks like a fan, it is placed such that it is submerged inside water. Propeller is the main component for the navigation of yacht/ship, it receives power from the engine, it helps the yacht/ship move forward or backward by pushing the water in opposite direction, for instance if the ship is moving forward the propeller pushes the water backward and vice versa.

Figer No. 6
Commands used: Revolve, loft base, fillet, cut extrude, pattern.
- Seat
Three seats are modelled for yacht based on the deck surface imported from hull, they are
- Front seat
- Middle seat
- Rear seat
Front and rear seats are modelled in a similar fashion, i.e. first they are modelled in surface and then the surface model is converted to solid and proceeded
All the three seats are placed on the top of the hull. Seats in the yacht are for spending quality time.
Front and Rear Seat
Both are symmetric models therefore, it is enough to model one half so that the other half could be mirrored.

Figer No. 7
Rear seat

Figer No. 8
Commands used: Sweep surface, trim surface, knit surface, surface extrude, loft surface, extend surface, cut extrude, extrude, Reference plane, fillet, chamfer, mirror.
Middle seat. Figer No.
It is placed in the middle of the yacht. Unlike other seats it modelled completely in solid modeling. The middle seat has tea table in front of it. It is modelled based on the surface deck imported from hull.

Figer No. 9
Commands used: extrude, reference plane, fillet, chamfer, and mirror.

ASSEMBLY:
Part modeled are assembled with respect to each other and fixed. Hull is the first part to be added. Every other part is fixed with respect to hull.
Mates feature is used to create geometric relationship between parts to fix their position and motion with respect to each other.
CONCLUSION:
- Parts of a sunseeker predator yacht are designed and modeled using solidworks.
- Assembled the parts modeled using solidworks.
- Photo realistic rendering created useing solidworks photoview 360 and solidworks visulize.
NOTE :- solidworks visualize software is not working in my laptop , thats why randering are noy submited.
