Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

MODELING OF THE PREDATOR SUNSEEKER YACHT

OBJECTIVE:

The goal of the project is to model and assembly of the Sunseeker predator yacht using SOLIDWORKS software.

INTRODUCTION:

In this project we are mainly using the different type of surface modelling techniques to model the yacht. Different solid works tools are used to model the predator yacht.

The Sunseeker predator yacht design consists of the following individual parts,

  1. Propellers.
  2. Radar
  3. Hull
  4. Front seat
  5. Middle seat
  6. Back seat
  7. Garage door
  8. Super structure
  9. Radar mast
  1. PROPELLER:

A propeller is a device with a rotating hub and radial blades. Propeller is one of the easy parts in the predator yacht. Different type of solid works basic tools are used while designing yacht.

The different type of tools used are

  • Revolve
  • Loft
  • Cut extrude
  • Fillet
  • Circular pattern

  1. RADAR:

Radar is also one of the easy part in the model. Radar is a device used to detect objects and their position relative to your current location. Marine radar equipment acts as the primary navigational aid for boaters. It helps detect ships, birds, land and weather systems - even when visibility is lower than usual.

Tools Used

  • Boss extrude
  • Fillet
  • Cut Extrude
  • Sketch Pattern
  • Mirror
  • Split line

  1. HULL:

Hull is difficult part to make different surface modelling techniques are used in this. The hull is the watertight body of a ship, boat or flying boat. The hull may open at the top or be fully or partially covered by the deck. There can be a deckhouse and other superstructures on board.

Tools Used

  • Projected curve
  • 3d sketch
  • Surface command
  • Loft command
  • Surface offset
  • Surface trim
  • Extend surface
  • Knit surface
  • Shell
  • Split line
  • Boundary surface
  • Cut extrude
  • Surface thickening
  • Mirror
  • Linear pattern
  • Photoview 360 -> Decals to the floor

  1. FRONT SEAT

Front Seat is the other easy part to make basic solid works modelling techniques are used in this also different surface modelling commands are used.

Tools used

  • Surface sweep
  • Surface extrude
  • Surface trim
  • Surface fill
  • Surface loft
  • Surface knit
  • Chamfer
  • Revolve
  • Cut Extrude
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Dome

  1. MIDDLE SEAT:

Middle Seat is the other easy part to make basic solid works modelling techniques are used in this also different surface modelling commands are used.

Tools Use

  • Boss extrude
  • Insert Plane
  • Chamfer
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Cut extrude

  1. BACK SEAT:

Back Seat is the other easy part to make basic solid works modelling techniques are used in this also different surface modelling commands are used.

Tools Used

  • Insert plane
  • Surface sweep
  • Surface offset
  • Surface trim
  • Ruled Surface
  • Surface knit
  • Surface trim
  • Surface Extend
  • Surface extrude
  • Surface loft
  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Chamfer
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Revolve
  • 3d Sketch

  1. GARAGE DOOR:

Garage door is also a easy part to make different solid works commands are used in it.
it provides protection against wind, rain, fire and theft. It is used to park a bicycle or a car in the garage.

Tools Used

  • Cut Extrude
  • Shell
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Insert plane command

  1. SUPER STRUCTURE:

Super structure is the most difficult part to make in the model there many difficult surface modelling techniques are used in this this modelling gives us a really good idea about surface modelling. A super structure is an upward extension of an existing structure .

Tools Used

  • Surface extrude
  • Insert plane
  • Surface sweep
  • Surface knit
  • Fillet
  • Ruled surface
  • Surface trim
  • Projected curve
  • Surface loft
  • Surface fill
  • 3D sketch
  • Surface extend
  • Surface extrude
  • Delete face command
  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Fillet
  • Thicken
  • Dome
  • Swept surface
  • Split line
  • Mirror
  • Chamfer

  1. RADAR MAST:

They are electronic navigation devices that use a rotating antenna to sweep a narrow beam of microwaves around the water surface surrounding the ship to the horizon, detect targets using the microwaves reflected from them, and generate an image of the ship's surroundings on a screen.

Tools Used

  • Insert Plane
  • Boss extrude
  • Fillet
  • Revolve
  • Sweep
  • Mirror
  • Projected curve
  • Chamfer
  • Dome
  • Shell

YACHT ASSEMBLY:

All model components are inserted into the assembly section using the Insert Components command. The parts are joined together using planes, counters and different types of mates are also used to complete the model.

CONCLUSION

The modelling of the yacht gives a good idea of surface modelling in solid works and it really helps to increase the knowledge in solid works tools and operations.
