Objective:

The main objective of this project is to Design and model a Yacht Predator using solid works 3D CAD Software, by creating part drawings and converting them to 3D Model and to View more accurate and realistic Yacht we use the Photoview 360 and Solidworks visualize.

Introduction:

A Yacht is a type of boat used to pleasure and racing. It originated from the Duct word Jacht and it’s a fast-sailing boat used to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow water. High performance rig provides aerodynamic efficiency and hydrodynamically efficient hull minimize drag trough the water and the sideways motion. whereas Yacht of 79 feet and below may be constructed of fiberglass, lager Yacht are to be constructed of steel, aluminum or composite fiber reinforced plastic.

Design Approach:

Design Methodology:

The different parts required to set up a Yacht such as the Hull, superstructure, Propeller, Front Seat, Middle Seat, Rear Seat, Radar, Garage Door and Radar Mast are modelled with the required dimensions by part modeling.

The Various Commands and feature used to model the parts:

  • Sketch Command

  • 2D Sketch: A 2D sketch is a base to create a 3D model
  • Convert entities: Projecting entities from a different plane to the current sketch plane
  • Offset: Used to offsetting the faces, edges Curves or sketch entities to a specific distance.
  • Trim: The trim command is used to edit or delete the sketch entity power trim option is used to trim adjacent entities by dragging across lines
  • Mirror: Used to create a similar pattern about the selected plane
  • Circle: Used to create the circular drawing on the graphic area.
  • Spline: A two- or three-dimensional curve defined by a set of control points.
  • Feature & Surface Commands

  • Extruded Boss/Base: An Extrude boss is used to create a solid body from the 2d sketch to the given direction.
  • Revolved Boss/Base: The selected sketch contours around the axis in which the features revolve
  • Swept Boss/Base: A closed profile along an open or closed path to create a solid feature.
  • Loft: To create a shape by making transitions between multiple profiles and guide curves to create complex geometry with a single tool
  • Extruded Cut: Removes the materials from the 3D model and cut a sketch profile while extruding, it can cut in both directions and mainly used for creating holes.
  • Pattern:
  • Shell: It’s used to create thin bounded feature on the solid body
  • Fillet: It’s used to create a smooth tangent arc for internal or external edges.
  • Combine: Used to merges two soil body.
  • Reference Plane: defines the shape or form of a surface or a solid, such as planes axes coordinate and points.
  • Surface Mirror: To copy a selected feature, mirror a plane or planar face. If the original feature or sketch is modified it also reflect the changes
  • Knit Surface: Used to combine two or more non intersecting surface into a single surface body, surface should be joined at the edge to get an enclosed surface, through property manager we can create a solid body.
  • Ruled Surface: Inserts rued surface in a specified direction from edges, we can also trim and knit the surface and remove any connecting surface.
  • Offset Surface: Offset surface using one or more contiguous faces. This toll helps us to create an offset surface with gaps
  • Trim Surface: It trims the surfaces where a surface intersects with another surface
  • Delete face: Delete faces from the solid bodies to create surface or deletes a face from a surface body.

Part Modelling Description

  • Blue Print Setup:

A blueprint is a reproduction of a technical drawing or engineering drawing using a contact print process on light sensitive sheets. A blueprint is a guide for making something, it’s a design or pattern that can be followed. Blueprint was used to model the Yacht in a fully defined constraint. For setting up the Blueprint the sketch pictures options were used and placed the different blueprints at the required planes

  • Propeller:

It is the most important part of the ship its fan like rotating structure which is used to propel the ship by using the power generated and transmitted by the main engine of the ship there can be one, two or three propellers. without propeller the ship cannot move further.

    • Radar

A marine radar device acts as a major navigation aid for boaters. It helps in detecting boats, landmasses, birds and weather systems. The two fundamental features of a marine radar unit are transmitter power and beam angle.

    • Hull

The hull of a Ship is the most important as well as the most noticeable part of the ship. A hull is the watertight body of a ship or boat, it may open at the top or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck. It protects the cargo and the machinery of the ship. It can also protect the boat from flooding and other structural damage. The line where the hull meets the water surface is called as waterline.

The Hull of a ship can vary greatly depending upon the size or the type of the ship or vessel.

  • Front Seat

The Front seat is a passenger seat. This is placed in the front of the superstructure and also it as sun pads to rest on it. Front Seat feature two connected seats that are built back-to-back from one and other. They have a built-in storage unit underneath them. Lounge seats can also fully recline right back to make it easier for you to kick your feet up and get more comfortable
