Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1) The major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram

a) Generator

b) Battery

f) Foot selector switch

g) Breaker

c) Starter

d) Ignition coil

e) Ammeter

j) Current and voltage regulator

k) Fuel indicator

2)

  • Fuel indicator is used to indicate the fuel level in the automotive system
  • Generator is used as a main driving source during charging and driving a vehicle and assists the engine during acceleration
  • Battery is used to start a vehicle. It provides an electric current to the starting motor, which starts the internal combustion engine that propels the vehicle

3) P=V*I

Total load =10 A

Voltage=30V (Typical Car battery voltage is 30V)

power= voltage* current=30*10=300

fuse rating= p*1.5/v= 15 A

The fuse rating is higher than the maximum load to prevent short circuits due to overflow of current. It is necessary to maintain a fuse rating higher than the total load. so that the fuse rating is to be 15A.

4)

P=V*I

Total load =10 A (from the previous question)

V=50V

capacity = I*TIME

=10*1

Capacity= 10Ah

5)

Horn: the parallel circuit is used for differentiating between the high and low sound frequencies.

All lights: The light in automobiles are connected with a parallel connection in which a malfunctioning of one light will not affect the others.

6)

Battery: connected in series with high voltage to improve the drivability and reduce a loss (p=i^2 R)

Ammeter: An ammeter is a device which measures the amount of current flowing in a circuit.
