Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1. Here the major elements are battery, starter, ignition coil, distributor, breaker, junction block, scaler beam, horn , parking lamp, generator , horn button, beam light, tail switch, ammeter etc.

2. Battery - It is the power source of the system. It consists of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections for powering electrical devices. When a battery is supplying power , its positive terminal is the cathode while negative terminal is anode.

Starter - As the name suggests , starter batteries are only used to start up the machine. The most common application of a starter battery is starting an engine . The starter battery is characterized by having a greater starting power compared to other batteries.

Ammeter - It is the instrument for measuring either direct (dc) or alternating (AC) electric current , in amperes. An ampere can measure a wide range of current values because at high values only a small portion of current is directed through the meter mechanism ; a shunt in parallel with the meter carries the major portion .

3. Generally we take fuse as 150% of the load current .

therefore here fuse = 10*1.5 = 15 Amperes.

4. Here battery capacity = 500 wh = 500/12 ampere hour

= 41.67 ampere hour .

5. Here horn and parking lamp are connected in parallel as they have the same voltage source but the current flowing is different .

6. Here battery and starter are connected in seies because they have different voltage source.
