Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1. Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.

Battery, Starter, Ignition Coil, Current and Voltage regulator, Generator, Fuse, Distributor.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly.

Battery - It is Storage device, Energy Store in Chemical Form and convert into Electical Energy. It has number cells connected in series or Parallel give required power to System.

Starter - The starter motor functions by converting electricity to mechanical energy. It’s a hand-crank device that is used to start the engine in your car, truck, or another vehicle when you turn the ignition key.

Ignition Coil - An ignition coil (also called a spark coil) is an induction coil in an automobile 's ignition system that transforms the battery's voltage to the thousands of volts needed to create an electric spark in the spark plugs to ignite the fuel.

3. If the total load is 10A from battery, what should be the fuse rating?

Total Load = 10A

Fuse rating should be selected as to be 135% of this value.

Fuse rating = 10 A x 135% = 13.5 A

Next standard 15A.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. If 500W is the load, what is the voltage and capacity of battery you recommend?

 Load (Power) P = 500W

Consider Voltage V = 12V

P = VI

I = P/V

I = 500/12

I = 41.67 Amp

Battery Capacity  = 41.67 Ah.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Identify any two elements which are connected parallel to each other. Why they are connected in parallel?

Sacalco Beam, Horn and Parking Light connected in Parallel.

All the above element connected in Parallel connection Requried constant Voltage (Eg 12V). If voltage varies equipement get damage. Also We can provide speific switch for each elements. It connected specific path.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Identify any two elements which are connected in series. Why they are connected in series?

Battery, Starter, Fuse are connected in Series.

Current controlling devices are always connected in series with the device that they protect from short circuit and Voltage fluctuation.
