Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1) Generator, Battery,Stator, Breaker, Distributor, Ammeter, fuse, Light, Parking lamp and Horn.

2) A battery is a device that converts chemical energy contained within its active materials directly into electric energy by means of an electrochemical oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction. This type of reaction involves the transfer of electrons from one material to another via an electric circuit. It is widely used for accept, store, and release electricity on demand.

An electric generator is a device that converts mechanical energy obtained from an external source into electrical energy as the output.

A circuit breaker is an electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overcurrent/overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to interrupt current flow after protective relays detect a fault.

An Ammeter is a measuring device that is used to measure the flow of electricity in the form of current in a circuit.

3) For individual circuit, the fuse rating should be 1.5 times of the full load current

load current= 10A*1.5 times= 15 Amps.

Therefore fuse rating will be around 15 Amps

4) P= 500w

V=12

Watt-hr=voltage*current*time

500=12*Amphere*hours

Amphere-hours=500/12=41.6 Ah Battery will be required.

5)a) Increasing the number of light in a series circuit decreases the brightness of the bulbs. In a series circuit, the voltage is equally distributed among all of the bulbs. Bulbs in parallel are brighter than bulbs in series. In a parallel circuit the voltage for each bulb is the same as the voltage in the circuit. Another advantage to the parallel circuit is that if one loop is disconnected, then the other remains powered.

b) Switches are connected in Parallel, as in parallel connections voltage will be same and each equipment can be operated separetely with-out interupting the other equipments.

6) a) the current flowing through all the components of the circuit is the same. Ammeter aims at measuring the current in the circuit, hence it is connected in series so that the same current that is there in the circuit flows through it and gets measured.

b) Fuses are always connected in series with the component to be protected from overcurrent, so that when the fuse blows it will open the entire circuit and stop current through the component
