Project
1. All Terrain vehicle
An All terrain vehicle also known as Light utility vehicle is a vehicle that travels on low pressure tires, has a seat that is straddled by the operator, and has handle bars. The rider sits on and operates these vehicles like a motor cycle, but the extra wheels give more stability at slower speeds.
The transmission that is used in the terrain model is CVT(continuously variable transmission). It is a automated gear box that allows the driver and the driver shafts to have unlimited gear ratios. The CVT uses two pulleys with a steel belt running between them. To continuously vary its gear ratios the CVT simultaneously adjuts the diameter of the drive pulley that transmits torque from the engine and the driven pulley that transfers torque to the wheels. With stepless shifting of gear ratios the CVT can avoid the shift shock and deliver smooth driving, making it an exceptional transmission solution.
Simulink model for All Terrain vehivle with ATV model

Components in ATV model are signal builder to give brake and throttle input to the system, simulink to ps block to convert the signal to physical form, CVT and vehicle body. The system is designed for gear ratio=10. The gear ratio is inside the CVT.
CVT Subsytem: IN cvt subsystem there is a input shaft inertia, Variable gear ratio, output shaft inertia

The subsystem of vehicle body

The torque speed curve
The throttle brake output

In this the velocity and distance changes with respect to time, brake is constant at zero and throttle is constant at 0.5 with respect to time.
The CVT shaft speed

The primary rpm of CVT varies nearly at 1800 rpm and it become constant after some time and again it varies when it reaches certain time say 6 secs, the secondary rpm is zero intially later it starts varying when it reaches around 500 rpm.
Simulink model of AVT with dashboard

Dashboard contains brake input, throttle input velocity measuring device and speed measuring device. Brake input is zero, throttle input is 0.5. When we run the simulation model the speed shows 4000 rpm and velocity shows 60

Torque speed output

The torque speed curve doesn't change with dashboard and without dashboard.
Throttle and break output

Intially the velocity changes with respect to time and become constant at 60 km/hr, distance also increases gradually, the throttle increases to one(1) from 0.5 with time and brake is constant at zero.
The shaft speed output

The primary rpm starts at around 1900 rpm with dashboard increases upto around 3800 rpm later decreases and then varies when it reaches certain time and become constant when it reaches time t=11 sec and at 3800 rpm according to the graph.
secondary rpm starts from 500 rpm increases gradually upto some 2500 rpm and then decreases slightly and increases rapidly and become constant at above 5000 rpm and at time t=11 sec according to the graph.
Simulink model of ATV model with LOOKUP table

visualize lookup graph

CVT ratio starts somewhere above 3.5 and decreases with respect to speed as speed increases and cvt ratio becomes constant when speed reaches nearly 40 km/hr.
CVT ratio output

In cvt ratio the value of ratio is 3.5 it is constant upto the time reaches 5 sec then it decreaes gradually up to the time reaches 35 sec and then the ratio becomes constant with respect to time.
Throttle and break output

The velocity of the system is zero intially later it increases slowly with time. The brake input is zero and the throttle input is at 0.3 upto 20 sec and it increases to 1 after 20 sec.
CVT shaft speed

In this the secondary rpm starts around 450 according to the graph and increases slowly with time.
Simulink model of ATV with dashboard and with LOOKUP table

In the above model the intial condition to run the simulation are brake input=0, throttle input=0.3. When we run the simulation the speed of the system reaches to nearly 2000 rpm and the velocity reaches to 40km/hr.
CVT ratio output

The CVT ratio starts at 3.5 later it decreases to 1.9 at 20 sec and further it decreases to 0.5 at 75 sec and it becomes constant after 75 sec and remains at 0.5.

CVT shaft speed output

With lookup table the speed of the vehicle increases slowly than without lookup table.
