1.Cvt model 1 without dashboard
Over view
The model consist of signal builder block which will input break and throttle signal to the engine block. Inside the signal builder we can modify the signal as we like and see what changes can be made to the ATV while applying throttle and brakes. Goto signals used to send signals of break and throttle to the scope.
The Generic engine block consist of certain parameters like Throttle (T), power(P), fuel consumption(FC) and mechanical rotational conserving ports(B and F). A solver configuration is connected to the B port of the engine followed by the reference. F port is connected to the engine sensor which is a subsystem which consist of rpm sensor to a scope. From this scope we could find the rpm. The sensor is connected to next subsystem cvt.
Cvt is a type of transmission system used in Atv, electric vehicles etc. Continuosly variable transmission delivers seamless acceleration without interruption for gear shifts. It consist of variable ratio gear. The input to this gear system is from the sensor which out puts the rpm of engine to the gear system. ie input shaft and output shaft rpm.
This cvt primery rpm and secondary shaft rpm are monitored using scopes which the output is given using goto blocks.
The cvt is then connected to a simple gear system which consist of a base and a follower.
These blocks is connected to the vehicle body which is a subsystem having brakes, wheels, suspension, brake and the body. Velocity of the vehicle and distance covered are output using output ports. Cvt ratio is input to the cvt block using a signal builder.

Working of the model

Generic engine is preset according to the engine parameters. This is the initial condition. Once we simulate the model engine parameters changes. Ie, speed and torque of the engine. Speed and torque ratio can be obtained from this. The rpm or the shaft speed due to throttle response is recorded inthe engine and output it to the cvt block via engine sensor. The signal builder input the cvt ratio to the cvt transmission system. These are the input of the cbt transmission. In cbt block there are two ideal rotational sensor blocks and inertia blocks for each input and output shafts respectively. The variable gear changes the gear ratio according to these inputs and cvt ratio. Then it is passed to the simple gear. Vehicle body inputs are from the simple gear and brake blocks. The vehicle body block consist of various parameters mass, aerodynamic drag, road inclination and weight distribution between axile due to acceleration and road conditions. From this block vehicle velocity and distance travelled for specific throttle input.

Output from Graph

The out put obtained from the simulation are torque-speed curve, velocity, distance, throttle brakes and primary and secondary shaft speed and rpm. The throttle and brakes applied constantly. Initially the velocity of vehicle increased and when the engine rpm reaches a constant value velocity also become constant.

2.Baja ATV with dashboard
Here the same system is used. The only change is it comes with a dashboard consisting of rpm meter, velocity meter , knobs for changing brake and throttle input instead of a signal builder block.
This model is very useful, we can change the brake and throttle input during simulation and view the output in realtime.

The knobs are connected to the constant blocks brak input and throttle in the main system . The gauges are connected to the rpm scope and velocity output of the vehicle body. The output at different throttle and applied pressure is viewed from the scope. Torque speed curve also can be analysed. The outputs at different conditions are given.
