Project-2-Meshing of Door Inner Panel Challenge

AIM : To mesh the given plastic side door model , should follow mentioned quality criteria, Then assign thickness.

PROCEDURE :

STEP 1: IMPORT THE MODEL.

file > import > geometry

STEP 2: GEOMETRICAL CLEAN UP

Switch to wireframe mode we can see that lot of red lines. Actually we do not need to worry about that, why because we are going to do plastic mesh not manually mid surfacing. So we can ignore that. Apart from these, the surfaces are well in manner.

STEP 3: MESHING.

Here we can mesh the base surface first, why because the features should attach into the base. Here the base surface does not showing any thickness variation, this surface thickness is 2.8 mm.

So we can first offset the base surface to the mid position. by using offset option.

Here we should add quality criteria before meshing.

So far the base surface meshed.

We have lot of fillets, so we have to defeature it.

In this kind of fillets.

What I did there, First I meshed on the surface,

Then with the help of offset option (2D > element offset) I offset the 2d mesh to the mid of the feature.

After that with the help of replace node option i paste the node from fillet to node of base. If the distance between fillet and base large means, I used element create option.

There is another features are present there.

If I capture these fin like feature, it is failing for minimum length.

So I ignored these features. But one feature I kept as it is.

This fin showing thickness variation.

So, the meshing process is completed.

STEP 4: FREE EDGE CHECKING.

tool > edge

I couldn't see any free edge in between the elements, So I can proceed.

STEP 5: CHECK NORMAL

tool > normal

STEP 6: QUALITY CHECKING

Most of the qualities are cleared, but few minimum length issues are present there.

Here I have seen lots of thickness variation,

And I have created extra components for requirement, then I named to those components.

Actually thickness assigning did when I capture features.
