Project 2 - Crush analysis of aluminium Tube

Solution Using Ansys Workbench;

Geometry:

Material Data:

Aluminum Alloy (Used for Aluminum Tube):

Structural Steel (Used for Rigid Wall):

Mesh Model:

Boundary Condition:

Results:

case 1: Rigid wall moving at 30 m/s

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain:

case 2: Rigid wall moving at 40 m/s

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain:

case 3: Rigid wall moving at 50 m/s

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain:

case 4: Rigid wall moving at 60 m/s

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain:

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about Implicit and Explicit problems solving methods.
  • Learn about Non-Linearity.
  • Learn about geometry creation, Material assignment, Meshing (Element Type), Defining Boundary conditions and post-processing (Results) in Ansys Workbench.

Conclusion:

as we are increasing velocity of moving rigid wall that results in crushing effect of aluminum tube is more.

Total Deformation and induced stress is more for higher velocity value.
