Project 2
VEHICLE BACKDOOR HARNESS ASSEMBLY
Aim
To route wiring harness for the Backdoor of a car
Objectives
- To Route the wiring harness for the given Backdoor and apply protection coverings based on the need
- To create a flattened view and 2D drawing of the bundle in Catia v5
Steps followed during the creation of wiring harness for the given backdoor

Backdoor that needed to be routed
Downloading required components and electrically defining them
Connector’s, clip, clamps and protection coverings are downloaded and defined electrically
6 pole connector C-DT06-6S

3 pole connector C-DTM04-3P

2 pole connector C-DT06-2S

Furr Clip 20mm

Electrical components are fixed into the required positions on the Backdoor

Wiring harness routing
Inter connectors and connectors are connected together by routing bundle. Add branch points are used to create branches on the bundle to connect with individual connectors

Corrugated tubes are provided for protection and required distance are provided between them for taping

Completed wiring harness assembly of the Backdoor

Electrical continuity check
To check continuity, go to edit-search-advanced
Select workbench as electrical, type as bundle segment and attributes as fully connected
The select result should be true or false then search to analyze the continuity of the bundle segment. It the bundles are continuous the result will be as shown below
If it is selected false then no segment should be shown in the result

The bundle circuit is flattened using the Electrical Harness Flattening Workbench

2D drawing of the bundle is created using Drafting Workbench

Conclusion
In this project I have successfully completed the routing for the wiring harness of the given Backdoor, and its flattened view and 2D drawing in Catia V5
