Project 2 - 2D meshing on the instrumental Panel
Project report on 2D meshing on the instrumental Panel
Aim :- For the given Instrumental Panel model, Take the mid surface for all the components after checking the geometrical errors and mesh the mid surface with the given element Quality criteria. (Refer the table Below for the Quality criteria)
For the given geometry we have to set quality criteria and mesh paramerter

Now first we have go for check geometry to eliminate all geometrical errors and Performing mesh operation
For that we have to follow the following step :-
1) First we go to mesh module under this perimeter we select length option after left clicking on that option we select the whole model by midle mouse click we set a value 1 and click ok. By doing this in the geomtry the distance between any two nodes will be 1 unit

2) After that again we go to check >geometry>execute there are so many errors found one by one we resolve the errors and again go for check >geometry>execute and repeat this cycle until all the geometrical errors are eliminated

3) After geometrical cleanup, we have to do Mid-surfacing for that we use casting option because it is a plastic component having varing thickness and it is a simple model , topo>mid-surfaces>casting
After that here a finite element is created with mesh flow , here we can use mesh module to correct the mesh flow

4) We have to assign property id for that we goto Topo>Faces>mids surface>thickness>convert, by using this option it will take data from allign manager and set up PID, here we have to provide step size, it will give a approximated result , so again we have to check the thickness and make correction if required, here we taken step size of 0.2 for more accuracy

5) Few points must be Obey during the meshing
- No Tria element on the edges (free edge , share edge ,non- manifold edges, )
- No opposite trias in the Mesh
- Not trias should touch each other (no back to back trias)
- No trias must touch features (Embosses,Fillets , Holes, Logos, Dog Houses, Weldings etc.)
- There should be an even number of nodes on the holes opening
- No rotational quads
- No pattern Trias
6) Meshing Part
- Here mesh is already generated under casting option.
- we are using Reconstruction (mesh>shell mesh>Reconstruction) and Smooth (mesh>shell mesh>smooth) very frequently and if there are more tria then we have to go for manually

- for that we use split (mesh>elements>split), swap (mesh>elements>swap), join (mesh>elements>join),
- For better mesh flow we are also performing certain operation under mesh module>Grids, like paste , move etc
- we are also use curves option to recreate damage part topo>curves>create
7) Now thickness has already asign, now we check draw shell as solid for showing thickness on the screen and save it
Conclution:- In this model we have to use alignmanger frequently and the part which are not properly captured we have to delete the damage one and create a new and add data to align manager and also matching the mid surface with parent geometry , if any part is not align properly we have to correct it , near the fillets and blue cons some quality criteria can be compromised
Thank You
