Project 1 - Meshing of Floor Panel

Aim: To Extract a mid-surface of the Floor and to create a proper mesh flow in the model with proper quality criteria.

Objective:

  • Import the xx. Iges file into ANSA GUI
  • To check up for the proper surface to extract the mid-surface.
  • To clean up the geometry where the crack of mesh has been founded.
  • Extract the midsurface using the skin option, or if you go the meshing through the Align manager, you have to use the Casting method.
  • Check for the quality criteria if a failure occurs sort it out.
  • Assign the thickness for the mesh.

Procedure:

To Import the model into ANSA GUI.

Now we need to do the Topology of the surface and need to clean up the surface.

After changing the length of the perimeter and macros of 1mm.

After doing the topology, then also there are a lot of single and error surfaces.

total no of errors are 454 single cons and cracked surface occurred.

Some sampled cracked and single cons surface are shown below.

Once Clearing all the surfaces, for reference the picture is attached below.

Again the geometry is checked, there is no error and the picture is been attached below.

To extract the midsurface of the Flooring, and shown below.

Then generating the Batch mesh in the Midurface,

Using Batch mesh:

Since due to batch meshing there are minor trias are been occurred at the edges of the surface, so this has to be sorted out by using the split command under the mesh dialog box in the Element area.

Use the Smoothing option in the midsurface, to enhance the mesh flow in the surface smoother.

Outcomes:

Here learned how to extract the midsurface and do the mesh into the surface with the proper mesh flow.

Also, we can use the Casting and Align manager methodology to align the mesh flow.

Conclusion:

The extraction of the midsurface is done by skin method and the meshing is done by Batch meshing.

By using Casting and ALign manager also we have done the meshing.
