Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck
Aim: To check and solve all the geometrical errors, assign relevant PIDs, and perform surface mesh on the cyber truck geometry as well as the wind tunnel surfaces.
Working Methodology :
The working methodology that is followed to generate mesh on any geometry is :
1. Import the geometry.
2. Check for geometrical errors.
3. Geometry cleanup.
4. Assigning relevant PIDs.
5. Meshing with target length 3 mm.
step-1: Import the geometry
First, the pre-designed geometry of the Tesla Cybertruck is imported into the ANSA.

Performing geometry checks

Checking for intersections

Performing geometry topo cleanup to ensure no single cons are present

After patching up all the surface the geometry becomes

The geometry has certain penetration intersections which have to be resolved

Using the NOT option with entity selection mode to view the penetration:intersections
Using PID property to identify and delete the intersection

After deleting the intersection a single CONS is visible which must be fixed using TOPO or project or any other option. Since the single CONS could not be fixed the whell shaft was deleted as it is not required and the two surfaces were patched. The same step has to be repeated for the other two wheels.

Assigning Relevant PIDs

Meshing
First, a surface mesh is generated on the geometry with a mesh length of 4mm for the body, glass window(tolerance=1mm), and mesh length of 5mm given to the tires using the CFD mesh tool.

Uncut the distances with shorter gaps, for better meshing

Quality criteria:

Mesh the body with 3 mm target length, CFD meshing

Mesh the tyres:

Check for off elements in hidden mode.

Reconstruct the elements to decrease off elements.

Clearing all off elements

Then, the wind tunnel is created by creating points and then creating surfaces using the points.

The top face of the domain is given a mesh length of 200mm while the bottom face is given 50mm. And the remaining faces mesh length should vary by a factor of 1.1 from bottom to top using the spacing tool in the mesh deck.
