Assume suitable sections for structural elements. Follow IS456, IS1893 and IS 875
- Prepare a Design Basis Report for the project
- Create structural model using STAAD Pro Connect Edition
- Prepare DL, LL, WL and EQL load calculations as per IS 875 standards
- Design slab element using MS – Excel
- Design beam and column element using STAAD RCDC. Attach the design calculation report.
- Design Foundations using STAAD Foundation.
- Prepare bar bending schedule for beam and column using STAAD RCDC
- Attach necessary sketches and drawings wherever required.
- All stipulations, assumptions and design parameter must adhere to Indian Standards.
AIM
Design a multi-storey Residential Building located in Bangalore using STAAD Pro Connect Edition
INTRODUCTION
STAAD is a popular structural analysis application known for analysis, diverse applications of use, interoperability, and time-saving capabilities. STAAD helps structural engineers perform 3D structural analysis and design for both steel and concrete structures.
A physical model created in the structural design software can be transformed into an analytical model for structural analysis. Many design code standards are incorporated into STAAD to make sure that the structural design complies with local regulations.
PROCEDURE
Open staad software

ASSIGNING THE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS
The line elements have to be assigned as beam column and plates and appropriate dimension are given.
select properties and then define properties

ASSIGNING OF LOAD
There are various loads acting on a structure
- SELF WEIGHT
- FLOOR LOAD
- WIND LOAD
- LOAD COMBINATION
Assigning self weight
For that go to loading then add primary load cases ie,dead load and live load first
<!-- [if gte vml 1]>
<!-- [if mso & !supportInlineShapes & supportFields]> SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT <![endif]--><!-- [if gte vml 1]>
then click on dead load add self weight and floor load.
for add floor load click floor load th y ranges in floor level is 4 to 21.5 x=0 to 16 Z= O TO 25 AND floor load =-4KN/M
<!-- [if gte vml 1]>
THEN ADD super imposed dead roof load 1.5 KN/M Y=21.5 TO 25 ,X=0 TO 16, Z=0 TO 25
<!-- [if gte vml 1]>
Then assign the loads
<!-- [if mso & !supportInlineShapes & supportFields]> SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT <![endif]--><!-- [if gte vml 1]>
<!-- [if gte vml 1]>
<!-- [if gte vml 1]>
THEN ADD LIVE LOAD GO TO LIVE LOAD AND THE LIVELOAD=4 FOR ALL FLOORS AND LIVE LOAD= 1.5 FOR ROOF
<!-- [if mso & !supportInlineShapes & supportFields]> SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT <![endif]--><!-- [if gte vml 1]>
ASSIGNIG OF WIND LOAD
The wind intensities at various heights were calculated manually and feed to thesoftware .based on those values it generates the wind load on different floors.
first go to definiton and add wind definitions.
