Mold Design for Table Fan Casing

Introduction

The Mold is designed for the casing of the table fan stand. This mold includes sliders, Bolts and washers and also locking mechanism. The design of each section is as follows.

Design of Core and Cavity blocks

  • The Table fan model need to have adiquate drafts, after the drafts are given the part needs to be scaled according to the material and its shrikage percentage.
  • Then the shutoff surfaces need to be created to divide the core and cavity surfces. Now the parting line need to be selected to creat the core and cavity surfaces.
  • The Green color represents Cavity region and the Red color represents the Core region. The intersecting surafces looks blurry in both the colors.

They looks like this

  • using these core and cavity surfaces we need to creat the core and cavity blocks by using the extrude and cut with surface command.

They look like this

Design of Sliders

  • The silders are most important components when there are undercuts in the model, They prevent molten material entering the undercut by moving sideways in and out.
  • They also need to help the cavity block move easily in its way by having some drafts, unlike blocking them.

The both sliders of the fan case model are as follows

Design Bolts and washers

  • The bolts and washers are used in the mold to to clamp the slider to the slider path and just move in the path.
  • They are designed according to the industrial requirements.

The bolts and washers for this model are as follows

Design Locking Mechanism

  • The mechanish that does not allow the slider intersepting with the model after molding is called the locking mechanism.
  • it generally constrains slider to a particular distance.

the locking mechanism cam be seen in following assembly pictures.
