Challenge

Problem set 2 -week 3 challenge : Anti-Characteristics

Answer: Going through the help provided, We have all the formulas just we substitute proper values and get the answer. For this we have made a Excel sheet for calculation purpose as shown below.

1. Calculate the following parameters(12 points)

  • Front end deflection under load = 0.6315 in
  • Rear end deflection under load = 0.4871 in
  • Pitch angle = 0.6543 deg
  • Pitch gradient = 1.2965  deg/g

2.  Use the IC location information to calculate the following(18 points)

  • Front anti-lift angle = 3.4554 deg
  • Rear anti-squat angle = 22.2603 deg
  • Front swing arm angle for 100% anti-lift = 9.8461 deg
  • Rear swing arm angle for 100% anti-squat = 9.8461 deg
  • Front anti-lift % = 0
  • Rear anti-lift %  = 223.8211

3. To eliminate the pitch angle (theoretically), keep the rear swing arm height fixed at 16 inches from the contact patch. Calculate the following (12 points)

  • Front anti-lift % and rear anti-squat % for zero pitch angle =
  • Front end deflection under load, accounting for the new anti characteristics = 0.6315 in
  • Rear end deflection under load, accounting for the new anti characteristics =  -0.6031 in
  • Pitch angle, accounting for the new anti characteristics (verify that it is indeed zero) =  0.0165 deg
