Planetary Gear
Planetary Gear train
Planetary gear train system is used in most of the vehicles in order to acquire different variations in the motion. It is mostly used for power transmission in vehicles. Planetary gear train consist of an internal gear, sun gear, planet gears and a carrier.
The components used to make the assembly of the ANSI metric system. Also, the dimensions of the components are in mm. To make the motion smooth and accurate, precise contact is enabled.
Note: The module for all the components are taken as 2.5 and face width is kept at constant of 10 mm.
Internal gear (Ring gear)
Specifications:
Number of teeth = 46
Outside diameter = 130 mm
Pitch diameter = No. of teeth * module = 46 * 2.5 = 115 mm
Sun gear (Spur gear)
Specifications:
Number of teeth = 14
Pitch diameter = 14 * 2.5 = 35 mm
Planet gears (Spur gear)
Specifications:
Number of teeth = = = 16
Pitch diameter = 16 * 2.5 = 40mm
Carrier
Motion study of the planetary gear train is done based on three cases as below
