Hood design-Week 2

HOOD DESING

AIM:

Hood is main component of a car at the front portion. it is used to decorate the car and luxurious look The shape of the bonnet is made areodynamic in order to minimize the air effect.

objective:

The desing component of the hood/bonnet of a car and assemble them together. The trajectory of striker. Designing of the model is carried out in siemens NX-12 here. same engine vehicles for maintenance and repair.

INTRODUCTION:

The hood hinged cover over the engined of motor vehicles. hoods can open to allow acess to the engine compartment or trunk on front engine car the hood may be hinged at either the front or the rear edge or in earlier models it may be split into two section one each side each hinged along the centre line hoods are typically made out of the same material as the rest of the body work. Can lean onto it hassle free and work. these includes.

HOOD DESING CONSIDERATION;

The hood of a car is considered as the frontal BIW enclosure component Bonnets are desinged to reduce air resistance as the air flows around the car. Apart from this, Bonnets are also desinged to meet several a great deal of purpose in protecting the passenger inside the car and the pedestrains in the event an accident it also acts as the cover for the engine.

The European new car assement progarmme is a european car safety poerformance assement program which has developed test specification and rating systems for assessing pedestrain injuries during impacts with the front of vehicles such test include a series of test using impacts designed to a collision at speed

The describe a situation in which a pedestrain is laterally and a car first hits one of his legs and most importantly the head as head trauma is most importantly the head as head trauma is most commonly responsible for casualties.

Another important criteria for the hood desing is the protection of the occupants inside the car during front collision the desing of the hood should travel in the upward direction through the embosses and direction toward the body of car thus protecting the occupants inside.

Following parts are using in hood assembly for this report.

* Hood inner panel

*Hood outer panel

*Hinge assembly

*Striker assembly

HOOD INNER PANEL:

* In the inner panel only we can researh and implement the safety of pedestrain and as well as the driver. in this panel only we can attach the reinforcement embossed matic points etc.

it is an objective of the present inverntion to provide a hood inner panel capable of reduction of a reaction force of the hood inner panel even if a level of the hood inner panel even if a level of deformation of a hood oa a vehicle increases and ensuring a sufficiant energy absorption capacity.

HOOD OUTER PANEL:

We can also call it as cover of inner panel can join by any welding process like spot welding or rivet which spoil the outer look of a car. the outer panel is generally extracted model from the prototype deswign.

HOOD HINGE ASSEMBLY:

Hinge is a component that fixes the hood to the fenders of the car. The latch must be fixed perpendicular to the hinge axis so that the hood opens or closes properly.

HOOD STRIKER ASSEMBLY:

Latch and striker is used for locking the hood with the car. it usually placed on the space provided on the inner panel.

design approach:

A carried out in a most effective way and step procedure is explained. the master sketch of the panel was already provided on the basis of which the inner panel is created here

We will desingn the inner panel first so lets start with the given data a body stretched to full dimension of outer panel.

CONCLUSION:

In this way by following the procedure we designed both panels and set the striker trajectory and the reinforcements necessary and learned the features used in curves, surface and assembly in siemens NX. We have designed a hood that falls under the rules and regulations of the manufactures standards involed.
