Hood design-Week 2
CAR HOOD DESIGN
New file opened with product type. And added the parts given{ Inner panel, Outer panel, Hinge assembly and Latch}
Inner Panel
The Inner panel part is constructed from the given Outer panel reference part which is provided. I constructed the Inner panel with three flanges which is offsetted from outer panel with depths of 1.7 mm, 4 mm and 25 mm , radius of 6, 6, 10 and 15 degrees in curves and lengths of panels as 5 mm, 2 mm, 20 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm as given in the master sketch with the reference of splitted panel and taken it's symmetry with the use of tools such as boundary, parallel curve, split, offsett, fillets, curve smooth,extrapolite, join etc. Then Then I taken the part of hinge assembly which given. Then I made the axis and given the parallel constraint to hinge cylinder line and hinge position in the inner panel. Before symmetring the Inner panel I sketched in the yz plane of the Inner panel to make embosses and give mastics to it inorder to reduce the impact and given space to assemble hinge and striker.Then I curved the sharp corners in the inner panel's 2 corners with 35 mm radius.
Hinge Assembly
Then I activated the hinge assembly part and given a line at the middle of the cylinder in hinge assembly. And using contact constraints I contacted hinge assembly part with the hinge allotted gap in the corner of the Inner panel after fixing the outer panel with the Inner panel. Then using manipulation I bringed the hinge assembly part by considering its direction and place to contact with panels. Then inorder to get the contact between the panels and hinge assembly, I used extrude tool and splitted unneeded portions. Then I made to holes to fasten the bolts with the panel and hinge assembly part. Then I designed the other corner of the panel too for the next hinge to fix . Then in product part activated and the symmetry of the one hinge assembly is made to another side also.
Striker
Then I taken the middle point of the two points in the middle of the cylinder part in hinge assembly and drawn a circle with suitable radius for striker positioning by making the middle point made as centre point by sketching in inner panel's yz cordinate to get the position of the striker in the inner panel. Then I drawn a tangential line to the circle drawn on the plane .Then connected the intersecting point of the circle and tangential line to the centre which is above mentioned middle point. Then I drawn the line normal to the point to get the trajectory position of the hood. and adjusted the angle between the trajectory line and perpendicular line connecting centre of the circle and intersection of circle and its tangential line. Then I activated striker and created a plane along normal to the curve near to the striker and drawn a line parallel to that plane . Then I used contact constraints in the product part and contacted the striker's point in the sketched line and the intersection point marked above the inner panel where striker's position is allotted. Then after manipulating the striker to its assigned position and then I used extract tool by activating Inner panel part. Then using sweep tool I contact it with Panel after giving some extrapolation and extra part is removed using split tool. Then above that striker emboss given holes for the fastening to do for striker.
Outer Panel
Then after that Outer panel part is activated and splitted it in yz cordinate. Then its sharpe corner is curved with the radius of 30 mm. Then offset is taken at 2.65 mm from the outer panel. then hemming is made with the help of the tools such as split, sweep, shalpe filletting etc.Then I given the relief using th tools such as points, spline, split, etc. with reference meassurement given in the master sketch as 3 mm at two corners.After that using symmetry tool in y direction, the spliited outer panel is mirrored.
After doing all this the thickness is given to Inner panel to downside and Outer panel to epside using thicken tool. Thus our required hood assembly is ready with required dimensions given in the master sketch.
