Foundation Design using SAFE
1)AIM:
Model the isolated footing provided in week 11 challenge on SAFE. Analyze and design it to verify the size, depth and steel provided as per calculations.
INTRODUCTION:
SI SAFE (Slab Analysis by the Finite Element Method) is the best tool for designing concrete slabs and foundations by the Computer and Structures, Inc. SAFE provide easiness to engineer towards the safe design of structures with powerful tools like draw, analyze, design and detailing etc.
PROCEDURE:
first open the SAFE

set up a new model set prefrance, cover etc.
for referance use IS456:2000.us

Now we have to define the material into it.
Define M25 and HYSD415
Now we have to provide the footing of 600mm.
click ok
Now go to define>load combination.

After applying the loads click on run the analysis.

Now check the punching shear it should be less then 1.

HENCE OK.
Now go for design strips

2. A column of size 600x600 carrying an unfactored gravity load (DL+LL) of 1175 KN is to be supported on pile cap, which ultimately transfers load to the piles underneath. Piles of 16 metres length and 500 mm diameter are to be used. Each pile has a load carrying capacity of 200 KN. Model, analyse and design the pile cap on SAFE to evaluate the following:
- Pile group to be used
- Depth of pile cap
- Longitudinal steel on top and bottom face in both directions
AIM:- MODEL AND DESIGN THE PILE CAP USING GIVEN DATA.
PROCEDURE:-
First open the safe.
Using IS450:2000 set up the project.
Define the materials
Define the slab .
Now define the loads and load combination same as que 1
Now we have to draw referance point for pile , pile cap, column

Now create a column of 600mmx600mm
Draw a column at the centre using referance point.

After assigning all load run the structure.
The punching shear values should be less than 1.

Structure is safe.
RESULT:-
Pile design using safe is completed
