FINAL INDEPENDENT PROJECT

Design, Assembly and Rendering of a Tipper Truck using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Visualise

Objective:

  1. Design the parts of the Tipper Truck
  2. Assemble the parts in solidworks assembly.
  3. Render a high quality image using photoview 360 and SolidWorks Visualise.

Software Used:

SolidWorks 2019-20 student Edition

  • SolidWorks is a parametric mlodeling software used for making/Designing models in industries such as automobile, aerospace, etc. The software is parametric that means the model acn be altered or modified at any given time. The design of the model changes with the alterations made in the part while modeling.

Motivation for the Project:

Being a automobile fan I am interested in knowin the working and the design of an automobile. By automobile I also mean various vehicles such as planes, Ships, etc. The most i am interested in is a truck. I have liked trucks sinces childhood, and since I got to learn about this course I thought to design a truck in SolidWorks.

Engineering Significance:

  • Trucks are used for many purpose such as moving heavy loads transporting material. In this project I have designed a Tipper Lorry.
  • A tipper Lorry consists of Dump Body which carries the load.
  • The dump body can pivot on the chassis and is lifted using a hydraulic piston.
  • The truck is 8X8 drive, to provide maximum traction possible.

 Tools and features used:

  • Sketch: This alllows us to create a sketch on a plane or a flat body.
  • Line: This allows to create lines
  • Circle: This allows to create circles
  • Rectangle: This allows us to create rectangle.
  • 3Dsketch: This allows us to create sketches withouth selecting plane or a surafec.
  • Extrude Bose: This used for making solid bodies with help of a sketch
  • Extrude Cut: This is used for making holes or cuts in the solid body.
  • Swept Bose: This is used for making a solid body along the curve or line.
  • make pierce: This is used to put a center of the sketch on the end of a curve or a line.
  • Plane: This feature allows us to create geometric plane with reference to a surface or other plane.
  • Curve: This is used for making curves with reference to the lines and splines.
  • Fillet: This is used for making the corner edges round.
  • Chamfer: This isn used for making the corner edged inclined.
  • Trim: This feature allows to remove the unwanted sketch
  • Extend Entities: This feature allows us to extend a line
  • Convert Entities: This is used to convert a edge or a face into a sketch
  • Shell: This feature allows us to create hollow components.

Surface Features used:

  • Surface Loft: This feature is used for making surfaes using reference sketch and a guide curve.
  • Surface Fill: This feature is used for filling a open surface.
  • Surfaec Boundry: This is used for making a surface using to different direction.
  • Surface Extrude: This is used to extrude a surface using a line.
  • Surface Trim: This is used for removing extra surfaces.
  • Knit Surfaces: This is used for joining two or more surfaces and joining them form a solid body.
