Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
AIM:
TO Calculate the Wheel Arch gap at required points and check whether the car passes the European standard.
WHEEL ARCH FENDER
Fender is the American English term for the part of an automobile, motorcycle or other vehicle body that frames a wheel well(the fender underside).
Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire.Fender are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surfae.Sticky materials, such as mud, may adhere to the smooth outer tire surface, while smooth loose objects, such as stones, can become temporarily embedded in tread grooves as the tire rolls over the ground. These materials can be ejected from the surface of tire at high velocity as the tire imparts kinectic energy to the attached objects. For a vehicle moving forward, the top of the tire is rotating upward and forward, and can throw objects into the air at other vehicles or pedestrains in front of the vehicle.
FIRST THE WHEEL ARCH EUROPEAN STANDARD DIMENSION IS GIVEN

TEST 1 SB PASS

TEST 2 SA FAIL

TEST 3 SC FAIL

TEST 4 SD FAIL

TEST 5 SE FAIL

FINAL VALUES OF THE DIMENSIONS

RESULT:
From the above posted picture the european standard is not passed, except the SB dimensions all other dimensions are not passed,Therefore some design changes was to be made on this(i.e) the dimesions should be above 10mm for all other dimensions for SA,SC,SD,SE.
