Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Aim:
To Calculate the Wheel Arc area and radius for given fender model and check for eligibility to pass.
JAPAN STANDARD:
As per the japan standard the clearance value the gap between the tyre and the fender wheel aech should not be less than 5mm for all the 3 points B,A & C

Japan Requirement:
Measure clearance L of tire hub cap & fender in three different positions within area K and produce clearance check chart to validate
Clearance must be greater than 5mm in all three positions.
Wheel guard reqmt : the value of a shall be more than 5mm at a line 30deg forward and 50 deg rearward from the central vertical axis of axis of wheel .
US STANDARDS :
Lines are drawn from the centre of the wheel for every 10 degree from 20 to 180 degrees as shown in figure so as per us standard the celearencegap distance between the wheel and the fender wheel arch should not be less than 5mm at every 10 degree

European standard :
As per Europe standards the clearnce L should not be less 10 mm at all 5 points SB,SA,SC,SD,SE now let us see if the given fender & wheel model will pass the europan standrd or not

EUROPEAN REGULATIONS REQUIREMENT:
Measure CL L at sections SA-SA-SB-SB SC-SC- SD-SD SE-SE and produce CL check chart to validate.
at all five sections the CL L value should be greater than 10mm to satisfy the European regulations
wheel guard reqmet :The value of a shall be more than 5 mm at a line 30 forward and 50 rearward from the central vertical axis of axis of wheel.

MEASURED CLEARANCE ( L ) SB:

MEASURED CLEARANCE ( L ) SA :

MEASURED CLEARANCE ( L ) SC :

MEASURED CLEARANCE ( L ) SD :

MEASURED CLEARANCE ( L ) SE :

Procedure:
- Take a plane on the face of the wheel and create a certical straight line SA from the centre of the wheel.
- Create two simiar liner SB & SC at 30 degree and 50 degree angle respectively from the line SA taken from the centre.
- Create a horizontal line passing from the centre on the wheel offset 150mm up wards and mark its point of intersection with edge of the wheel .
- Draw a line passing throgh centre of the wheel and intersection point create angle bisector using bisecting lines and name the two new lines created as SD & SE.
- Exit the sketch and measure the distance between the fender outer and drawn the lines on the wheel .
The following values were archieved when measured :
SB- SB =10mm , SA -SA =9.973mm , SC-SC = 0.114mm, SD -SD =2.879mm , SE -SE =5.975mm
when comprared the values with the European standards the following results were achieved:

conclusion:
The clearence value is less than required value. Only the line SB is met the given european standard and the other lines doesn't nt met the given required european standard. the wheel arc length area of the car doesnt not met european standard hence the wheel acr length of car is fail to prove wheel arc length.
