Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht
OBJECTIVE:
To create a 3d cosmetic model of a yacht using solid works and render it with photoview360
INDTRODUCTION:
yacht is light and comparatively small sail used for racing and recreation, in recreations term applies to very large craft, originally powered by sail and later by steam or ic engines
The modeling of yacht involve 3 stages
• modeling of individual components
• assembly of the components
• rendering of the components.
Yacht consists of following models
1. Hull
2. superstructure
3. radar
4. radar mast
5. garage door
6. propeller
7. front, middle, and rear seat
During the modeling of the above parts, reference planes are created wherever necessary, and since it is a cosmetic model tolerance is not considered deliberately.
1.HULL
Hall is base of the yacht and it is a symmetric model. Therefore it is enough to model half and other half could be mirrored.
First, the hull is made of using surface modeling, then after completing the model by surface it is converted to solid and proceeded with solid modelling.
This is because hull consists of surface with complex curvature, therefore it is wise to model with surface then convert it as solid.

commands used: 3D sketch, lofted sketch, sweep surface, trim surface, ruled surface, boundary surface, surface extrude, knit surface, reference surface, sweep, extrude, cut extrude, revolve, shell,
fillet, chamfer, split
2. SUPER SYTRUCTURE
It is placed place on the top of the hull. It is also a symmetric model therefore it is enough to model one half so that the other half could be mirrored. It is modelled in a way same as hull, the model is started in surface modelling
with desk surface imported from hull as reference. The desired surfaces are modeled and surface model is converted into solid and proceeded with solid modelling.

commands used: 3d sketch, loft surface, sweep surface, trim surface, ruled surface, boundary surface, surface extrude, knit surface, reference plane, full surface, sweep, extrude, cut extrude, revolve, shell, dome, fillet, chamfer.
3. RADAR
Radar is a device used to detect objects. It is very important device in yacht/ship. It is mated with radar mast and placed on the topmost part of the yacht. It is modelled only in solid modelling. It is symmetric model and can be mirrored.
name is engraved using text and cut extrude (offset from surface) command.

commands used: extrude, pattern, fillet, mirror
4. RADAR MAST
It is a device that comes along with radar it is used to control the position and direction of radar. It also processes the signals which are sent and received. It is modelled based on the desk surface imported from the superstructure.

commands used: Revolve, extrude, project curve, sweep, reference plane, dome, fillet, chamfer etc.
5. GARAGE DOOR
This is modelled in solid model which was saved when split command was used during modelling hull. The part is retrieved and is used for the constructure of the garage door. It is a symmetric model, therefore the other half is mirrored.
name is engraved using text and cut extrude (offset from surface) command.

commands used: cut extrude, extrude, fillet, chamfer and mirror.
6. PROPELLER BLADE
Propeller blades displace water, to create force that moves a boat forward. The basic propeller shaft creates torques or the energy required to turn the blades. But the design of propeller blades is what creates the displacement of water. The displacement of water is what creates the forces that moves the boat forward.

commands used: revolve, lofted bose, extrude.
7. FRONT, MIDDLE AND REAR SEATS
There are 3 types of seats arranged in yacht. the front seat accommodated with 2 persons, middle seat accommodated with 3 persons, and rear seat accommodated with more persons.

PROCEDURE FOR CREATING PARTS:
1.First open the solid works window and select part file.
2. Then create a parts like hull, superstructure, radar, radar mast, garage door etc. we have to blue print setup as we required.
3.Then unhide all blueprints, and select the plane as we required for drawing a sketch, by using all sketch tools and surface tools.
4. Give all dimensions as we required to fully define the sketch.
5. Repeat all the process for each of the components.
ASSEMBLY:
1. For the assembly of yacht first we have to fix the hull portion then fix the superstructure, radar mast, front seat middle seat gets mated automatically.
2. For fixing of rear seat, we make use of coincidence and distance mate with hull.
3. Fix the garage door by using concentric mate
4. Then fix propeller by using concentric and coincidence mate
5. Fix radar by using concentric and coincidence mate.

CONCLUSION:
Thus required yacht is desinged.
