Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Wheel arch challenge:
wheel arch calculation is done to make sure that our designs are properly meeting the regulation clauses by various bodies or countries.
in this challenge, we are measuring the horizontal distance or the clearance between the wheel and the wheel arch, and the vertical distance or the gap between both of them.
1. clearance measurement
- for section A at an angle of 30 degrees from the vertical axis

- the distance is 10 mm so it is passing.
- for section B that is at an angle of 50 degrees from the vertical

- the distance is 1.76mm which is not passing the allowable limits
- for section C as taken as by the European standard

the clearance is 2.79mm which is not allowable
and for the vertical gap distance

all the distances are more than 10 so permissible
conclusion: the fender has to be modified to meet the standard in sections B and section C, although they are passing vertical gap clearance with more than 10 mm. at all the points a min clearance of 5 mm should be given.
