Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Fendor wheel arch- semi circular part of fendor positioned above the wheel of vehicle ,that allows wheel to accessed in case front wheel , enable to steered.
Arch extension -bodywork parts that allows very widde or high offset rim to fiited to vehicle providing additional wheel arch clearence.
types
- circular
- pointed
- parabolic
calculations
with clearence , wheel arch area, area K, angles(wheel guard)-used for calculating wheel arch.
For japan- clearence (L) of tire, and fendor in three different positions with area K. clearence must br greater than 5mm in all three positions. for wheel guard requirement-more than 5mm at 30degree angle in forward and 50degree angle in rearward of centrel of vertical axis of axis of wheel.
For European regulation - clearence (L) must be greater than 10mm. In European regulation- section with different angles are considered for validation, with this clearence was maintain greater than 10mm all three different positions.
For US regulation- clearence (L) must be greater than 5mm at 30degree at forward and 50degree angle at rearward from central vertical axis of axis of wheel. For every 10degree-need to check -start from minus20degree, major clearence 10mm was maintain at all three position, with fendor corner radius of 2.5mm.
| Section Regulations | Clearence (L) | Results |
| Japan | Minimum L= 5mm | Pass |
| European | Minimum L= 10mm | Pass |
| United States | Minimum L = 5mm | Pass |
