FENDER WHEEL ARCH AREA CALCULATION

Objective:

To ananayis wheel arch area it is follow or not follow JEU Regulations .(JAPAN,EUROPIAN,US)

Introduction:

Wheel arch comes with some standard specifications. When viewed from the front or top side of the vehicle, if the tyre is protruding outside the fender, that would lead to more chipping while driving and compromises pedestrian as well as the vehicle safety. Taking these factors into consideration, the wheel/tyre has to be positioned inside the tyre.

There are different regulations in this regard based on different regions. This case study has been done according to European regulations.

As explained in the diagram below, the minimum clearance ‘L’ recommended at all the 5 points on the wheel arch shown here should be 10mm, the points being SB,SA,SC,SD,SE.

If the curvature clearance is not matching the standards then the model needs to be modified accordingly

Analysis:

The wheel arch calculation part file open into the Catia v5 after Extract the wheel surface create the plane by using Extract surface after draw the sketch follow to Europian standard regulations above shown the picture. Create the skatch Intersection point cratead that intersection points projected to fender surface After messure the Value of projected points into wheel center this value L (mm) that value Meet or not meet the European regulations.

The clearance value \'L\' was measured and found to be as follows-

Results:

After analayis the wheel arch analayis SB only meet the regulations.Other four sections SA not meet the regulations,SC,SD,SE these three sections protoring the tyre outside to the fender this not meet the Pedstrians saftey .so we will corrected the regulations process after that this manufactureable Parts.
