Fender Design Challenge

FENDER

* Fender is an a US english term for the part of an automobile .

* It's primary purpose to prevent sand , mud , rocks , & other road spray.

* Fender's are basicaly present to prevent any injuries to pedestrains & the contain the motion of these particals.

TYPES OF FENDER

*Presently we are using the half bumper type , because when we choose the full bumper type the blank used for creating it is very large and has a lots of wastage, but when we choose the half bumper we have the possibility to reduce the scrap , which is known as scrap management.

* In the half bumper type we reduce the usage of steel material, and uses lots of plastic on the bumper which in term of decrease the weight of the car and increase the perfomance.

5 Mounting Points of Fender

1. DRIP

2. A PILLAR

3. SiLL

4. BUMPER

5. BAFFLE

1.DRIP MOUNTING

It is a important mounting area of the fender . This is connected with the engine compartment with some fastening tenchique

NOTE : It should be 150mm apart from the front edge , so that it won't get disturb to lamp mounting area

SECTION VIEW OF DRIP MOUNTING AREA ( SA-SA, SC-SC )

1. SECTION-SA-SB

section SA is 150mm from A-Pillar mounting

2.SECTION-SC

section SC is 150mm from edge of fender or headlight mounting point .

2.A-PILLAR MOUNTING

The A-Pillar is usaually supports the roof of a vehicle and is located in front of the driver . On convertable models it also represents the main roll-over protection & its among the strongest body parts . & this is structural pillar and that combines the body to the roof

3.SiLL MOUNTING AREA

Sill is the panel directly below the bottom of door supporting the floor and may be used to combine the floor and the body. the bottom end of the fender is mounted on the sill body for reinforcement of the fender panel, thus the sill mounting position is designed with holes and embosses.

4.BUMPER MOUNTING

Bumpers ideally minimize height mismatches between vehicles and protect pedestrians from injury. Regulatory measures have been enacted to reduce vehicle repair costs and, more recently, impact on pedestrians. Bumpers were at first just rigid metal bars.

5. BAFFLE MOUNTING

Baffle mounting or Mudguard are clip fit type of mounting on the inner side of the fender , and it protest car engine compartment and pedestrains from causig injuries from chip of out debris on the road when the car is in motion , and they are mounted on the fender using a special type of locking clips which are made up of plastics

USED COMMANDS

* Offset curve in face

* Curve on surface

* Trim sheet

* Law extension

* Datum plane

* Face blends

* Sew

* Dart

* Emboss

NOTE : Dart , Hole & Embosses are uses for increasing the reinforcement.

CONCLUSION : Thus the design of a fender has been accomplished
