FRONT FENDER DESIGN
MASTER SECTION-
Below figure is used to as a master section to create drip area and rest of the mounting points are creates as per the design requirements.
OBJECTIVE-To design Fender Drip Area, Sill Mounting area, Bumper Mounting area, Baffle Mounting area and A-pillar Mounting area of Passenger car Using Master Section.
INTRODUCTION-The Front Fender is a Closure component and Its Major Function is to avoid chipping inside engine compartment.Its primary purpose is to prevant sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road spray from being thrown into the air by rotating tire.
When vehicle is moving, tires pick up stones and others and hurl them in all directions.Fender are basically to prevent any injuries to pedastrians and contain the motion of these particles.
Mountings in Fender-There are 5 Mountings in Fender
- Drip Area
- Bumper Mounting
- Sill Mounting
- A-Pillar Mounting
- Baffle Mounting
DRIP AREA-It is the critical mounting area located inside the engine component. Designed according to the master section provided and optimal opening angle is maintained to make it look well assembled from outside.
Minimum clearance from head lamp and cowl part is maintained. Vertical distance of the drip mounting is maintained less than 60mm to avoid the spring back effect.Drip Area is mounted to engine compartment by weld nuts.
Other Mountings-Below are rest of the mounting areas, designed by maintaining emboss distance of 3.5mm and draft angle of 15 degrees. At the wheel arc baffle is added to absorb noise from engine compartment.
- We provide emboss to give strength to the panel,the length law is 3.5mm for all mounting regions and 15degree angle.
- Smooth curve is created for easy manufacturing of panel.
- Ribs is created to give structural strength to panel.
- 5mm diameter hole is created for mounting by screw.

CONCLUSION-I Completed Fender design by creating Drip Mounting Area, Bumper Mounting Area, A-pillar Mounting Area, Sill Mounting Area and Baffle Mounting area as per design Requirement using master section.
