Door Arm Rest Week 8 Challenge
OBJECTIVE
To develop class A surface input provided into a product design following the OEM design standards using CATIA V5 Surface workbench and to ensure that the product is manufacturable by injection molding.
ABSTRACT
The project report deals with the steps and procedures following while creating Door arm rest console Design using CATIA V5 surface workbench. it explain the methods I followed for creating the main tooling axis, side core tooling axis, class B surface, class C surface and final closed body creations. it also explains the draft analysis performed to check the manufacturability of the product using injection molding.
Design Life Cycle In Automorive Industrys Are:
- Concept sketch
- Class A surface creation
- NPD CAD
- Clay modelling
CREATING DOOR ARM REST
CLASS A SURFACE
They give Class A surface with Engineering Features.

CLASS B SURFACE
Class B Surface was Creating Offset 2.5 mm From Class A surface.

CLASS C SURFACE
Class C surface was creating to sweep along the boundary of class A using with Respect to the tooling axis angle 3 degree was applied then Class C surface joined along with the class A surface

CLOSED SURFACE CREATION
Here class A,class B,class C surfaces were joined together to form a single closed body.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
Do Draft Analysis With Respect To The Main Tooling Axis And Side Tooling axis draft ange 3 degree.
MAIN TOOLING AXIS

SIDE TOOLING AXIS

CONCLUSION
Thus a manufacturable door arm rest console was sucessfully designed using CATIA V5 Surface Work bench.
