Design of backdoor
The car back door serves as a crucial component, providing access to the vehicle's rear compartment. It consists of several integral parts, including the door shell, which forms the exterior, hinges enabling movement, a locking mechanism for security, handles for operation, and window regulators for glass control. These components contributing to the door's functionality, structural integrity, and overall design.
Main Parts in Back Door Assembly are as follows:
1. Outer Pannel - Back door outer pannel can be classified into two parts i.e Pannel outer upper and lower. Its basically a styling surface provided by styling team.
2. Inner Pannel - Main function of back door inner pannel is to provide rigid support to the outer pannel. Inner pannel and outer panel are joinied by using hemming procedure and in some areas masticks are also used. Spot welding is avoided here because of styling considerations.
3. Reinforcement Brackets - Thease are used to increase the local strength of inner pannel where mountings are to be attached. Provisions for thease brackets need to be provided on Inner pannel for mounting of thease brackets.
Important Notes:
-While designing the inner pannel the mountings such as rear head lamp, reinf mountings are needed to be considered. Also on flat areas the depressions and beads, embosses needed to be provided for the better strength.
- While providing hemming the design guidelines should be considered such as providing notches at the bent surfaces.
