Design of an Electric Vehicle

Create a MATLAB model of electric car which uses a battery and a DC motor. Choose suitable blocks from Powertrain block set. Prepare a report about your model including following:

System level configurations

Model parameters

Conclusion

1. System level configurations

  • Here main block/component are describe as below.
    • Longitudinal Driver
    • H-Bridge
    • DC Motor
    • Battery
    • Vehicle Body

  • Subsystem of vehicle

  • Wheel main parameters

  • Wheel RR (Rolling Resistance)

  • Vehicle Body main

  • Drag on vehicle

  • Simple Gear - Gear ratio

  • DC Motor - Electrical Torque

  • Battery

  • H-Bridge - Simulation Mode & Load Assumptions

  • Simulation mode in default is PWM and its changed with average and the regenerative braking is enabled and then load current characteristics is select smooth (The smoothed option assumes that the current is practically continuous due to load inductance).

  • Set the Simulation mode parameter to Averaged to speed up simulations when driving the H-Bridge block with a Controlled PWM Voltage block. This applies the average of the demanded PWM voltage to the motor. The accuracy of the Averaged mode simulation results relies on the validity of your assumption about the load current.

  • H-Bridge - parameters

  • Controlled PWM Voltage - input frequency
