Concept on positioning of Columns
1) Firstly the plan is not symmetric as structure simplicity and symmetry plays a very vital role in safety of the building so symmetry and regularity in the elevation is also must this has a symmetry structure above leaving the lowest part more narrow which disobey the fact of symmetry some where and also regularity of structure and also it shows a floating column which can be very dangerous at times because column is the main base of the structure and we have floating column orlese overhanging beams these reduces the strength of the structure as well as leads to more deformation and to avoid these we need to look towards to not to implement these in our structures. And also if we are going for floating columns then the beams attached to the floating columns should be strong enough to transfer the load from the floating columns to the main column so that it can further transfer the load to the soil. Totrackle floating columns and even narrower base than the above building only thing that comes to my mind is we can strengthen the beam attached to them more compared to the above structure so that i can bear the load and transfer it safely.
2)Irregularities in elevation leads to large deformation and can also leads towards collapse or disaster. when a storey have a mass or lateral stiffness higher than the storey below these kind of collapse occurs to avoid these disasters we can strengthen the columns below than the above stroey as to increase the ductility in structure as increased ductility reduces the deformation demand and with this we can safe our building with complete collapse atleast. symmetric and regularity of elvation should be given higher privilege due to irregularities load transformation of the structure gets distributed and when a suddenly heavy imapct of load like earthquakes load occurs the building is unable to divide the load most prominently and that is the reason why it collapse so to avoid these we need to check its load transformation path so that we can increase or reduce the size of column wherever required so that it can transfer the load safely.
3)The collapse of this structure orelse the partial collapse is due to the architectural design and also due to the structural design. Due to architectural design because emitting staircase of lift or anything at any side of the building reduces the strength of the complete structure it basically hits the contact of the elements together and structural design because by increasing or decreasing the size of beam and column in contact with the weaker elements of the structure we can stabilise the structure from collapse. So to avoid these kinds of collapse we need to avoid the design of a heavy element of structures like lift or staircase aside and also needs to give a correct dimensions to the beam and column according to the demands as if greater the size where ever required and we can even reduce the size where the load is less so that during the experience of any seismic or earthquake loads the building could be able to tackle those loads equally and effectively for this the appropriate size and symmetrical design of the structure plays the most vital role according to me so that should be taken in importance.
