Challenge 6

CONCEPT MODELING OF SIDE FENDER

Objective:-To create surfaces of the entire car fender using the isometric image of a car.

Tools used:-

Freedom blend tool,CV curve, line, skin, align tool, trim, project, intersect, extend, detach, tool and transform tool, fillet, rail, command Ms draft ect

Introduction:-

Introduction to surface continuity and its types

Continuities is the smoothness curve of the junction i,e. two mating curves. Continuity is the condition yhat the more smothly the adjoining surfaces flow

generally, there RE 4 TYPES OF SURFACES

THEY ARE:-

  1. GO-Position
  2. G1-tangent
  3. G2-curvature
  4. G3-acceleration

G0-position(continuity)

This is a less smooth type of joint with a Common endpoint. This position is the only condition to satisfy the joint.G0 is the point continuity when one curve touches the other.

  1. G1-tangent

One cant has G1 continuity unless you have G0 continuity .it is also called the second-order of continuity

i,e. to face meet along a common angle at a tangential plane they share a common angle. the best example for G1 continuity is fillet

  1. G2-curvature

G2 adds another order that must match our pair of curves. For G2 it must a tangent to the curve and have the same curvature at a point where they touch i,e. the input geometry must now be curved well so the input containing a straight line can't makes G2 curvature

  1. G3-acceleration

G3 continuity includes the concept of acceleration of the curvature; the amount of change in curvature over the length ofd the curve. G3 is looking for Balance on the rate of curvature

METHODOLOGY:

  1. Open auto desk alias and choose class a surfacing.
  2. import the canvas image by going to file>imaport canvas image>always create new layer.
  3. Assign the canvas to a specific layer.
  4. start by visualizing the surface of the fender and how the surface is flowing.
  5. Get an idea on how the surface is flowing in the canvas and develop a strategy to build the surface
  6. Start by tracing the surface using a curve.
  7. Create patches for every part of the fender so that de3veloping of the surfacing can be easier
  8. by using the "square" command to create the patch layout of the fender.
  9. use the "align command to form the G2 curvature where ever needed
  10. trace the fender by using curve.
  11. use the "Ms draft"command to develop the surface at an angle to patch layout which makes it easier to develop
  12. and create a hypothetical curve to create a surface layer that can be created blend trimmed.
  13. use"freedom blend" to create a blend between curves.
  14. as the fender is moving inside at the front, the curve should be moved inward and the surface should be createdas per the flow of the surface of the fender.
  15. after completing the sharp model save the file and create fillets to get a smoother edge.
  16. use the "cos" curve on the surface to trim the extra surface and clean the model.
  17. while applying fillets and updating them there them will be a lot of load on the system so avoid data loss always save your file at regular intervals
  18. Always use chord as construction type while creating fillets.
  19. Finally the model of the car fender is ready to smooth edge.
