The most widely used tool across the industry is Benchmarking. The Benchmarking is to study about your own product and competitor product,to analayse the changes we need to do and the changes we dont want to do.

BENCHMARKING-I : In this stage we analyse overall process development and the changes we need to do in the product comapring with competitor company OEM'S end product.
CONCEPT PREPARATION : It deals with the information about the part feautures and the module of the part in the OEM'S.
CARRYOVER STUDY : The Carryover study is kind of carrying some of the features and parts already developed from the other OEM'S. The kind of reinforcements we can carryover from the other modules.
Benchmarking-II : The level of Benchmarking-II is do an benchmark on each part of the model, The similar Benchmark we can do in this level are as
- Material - Analyse the material use in the other oem and to study the model what kind of changes we can do in the selection of material.
- Thickness- Benchmark the thickness of the BIW of the module.
- No of parts - Improvement on the no of parts in the module from the other OEM. It leads to the cost reduction.
- Total Weight- Improvement we can do in the total weight of the model.
GIVEN CONTEXT FOR BENCHMARKING
- Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.
- Note: Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars.

- Honda city 4th generation as average mileage 17KMPL and infotainment sysytem in the price range of 9.30 lakhs while the parts are bit expensive ones.
- Hyundai Aura AMT diesel is rich in mileage with 25kmpl with good engine specifications and better infotainment system and as price range of 9.47 lakhs.
So from the above four vehicles Hyundai Aura is looks good in all the features from perfomance to interior features and compiling with the customer expectaions mileagable one and larg fond vehicle too.
