Benchmarking
- Input from customer: Located in Bangalore, 5 family members including him, visits Madurai once a month, uses own car to commute to office. Budget 8-10 lakhs Also fond of Big cars.
- Benchmarking: It is the pre-Design and Development stage in the automotive industry for vehicle production process. In this stage a comparison chart between the previous built vehicles is prepared such that we can get the idea of the vehicles available in that budget and which can fulfill the customers requirement. This Benchmarking is done in two levels i.e. Level 1 and Level 2.
- Level-1 Benchmarking: This stage of benchmarking allows the design engineer to compare the vehicles on product based i.e assembly level comparison to reduce weights, number of parts, etc.
- Level-2 Benchmarking: This stage of benchmarking allows the design engineer to further classify the vehicles on basis of part based i.e. reduction in parts or part weight, reduction in sizes etc.
For example: Comparing the undercoating for Toyota Etios and Ford Figo

4. In a nutshell comparing the data from the presentation between Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger & Tata Punch. I would suggest Tata Nexon would be the best option for Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii as it is a compact SUV which would lie in his budget of 8 to 10 lakhs and would give him the best average in that range with high-class Safety.
The comparison shows that Nexon is having maximum power and torque between the three. Hence, High power and torque will provide him best in class pick up and speed.
