BENCH MARKING

• Bench marking is the marketing survey comparing the similar products available in the market. Bench marking have many stages, which start with the product level and end with detailed part level analysis.
• Initial stage is the comparative study about similar components, which are all available in the market and competitor products. Understanding their advantages and difficulties with the product and develop strategies to solve their difficulties or making the better performance than already available products and services.
• The next stage will be concept development stage and deals with choosing the right manufacturing process for making the product.
• Concept level includes number of seats, dimensional limits, basic features and advance features.
• Next major step will be the carry over study in which parts all made in-house and outsourcing products. Major critical parts will made in-house and other accessories will be mostly outsourced.
• In final level of bench marking, we get the detailed product level finalization based on the analysis with the market survey. Here we get the number of components, approximate product costs, thickness of components, weight estimation, basic and advance features etc.

REQUIREMENTS OF CAR:

The following assumptions made based on the requirements of the client:

• It should accommodate five passengers
• Bangalore area that is highly crowded city so compacts size and dimensions limits.
• Clients requires big car in this category to accommodate the family and luckages for long travel. (Long travel )
• Budget should be between 8 to 10 lakhs

Conclusion:

I consider five cars for the bench marking based on the requirements of the client Mr. D.S. Pughazyendhi, most of these belong sedan category.

Based on my suggestion he can opt for the Ford free style Titanium – petrol model, it will be best suited for the Bangalore conditions and have advance features opted for the environment.

The second most preference is little most costly than his budget ,In case if his budget have some allowance for another fifty thousand rupees I would suggest free style titanium – Diesel car which have same features almost but have advantage of the fuel cost and good mileage .

Hence Mr. D.S. Pughazyendhi can be opted for the following bench marking study to understand its features based on his interest . I would suggest the fourth model which suits his best .
