Benchmarking
Initially we dont have any idea to design a new car.In this case,we are doing some comparison between different cars available in the market.so we are using Benchmarking concept. In vehicle developement process contains four stages,
1.Predesign and development
2.Design Engineering
3.Development Engineering
4.Start of Production and vehicle at market
This benchmarking is available in Predesign and development .In this stage it contains four types
1.Benchmarking I
2.concept preparation
3.carryover study
4.Benchmarking II
BENCHMARKING I:
Benchmarking are also known as comparison. In this stages we are comparing different vehicles about their design, features, price, specifications and what their are prodiving best to their consumers. Also ,we are studying their Pros and cons of the vehicle.Benchmarking I is a product level analysis.
BENCHMARKING II is part level analysis.so we can choose whether we can use the same part or we need to use different parts in order to improve the quality.
Benchmarking is important process so we can find the strength and weakness of our competator so that we can improve our company standards to sustain in the global market. So the primary goal is to introduce new concepts or improve current process to meet high standards. Its not one time effort .Rather than its continuous process improvement to be competative.
