Benchmarking
Benchmark Study Report on Four Five-Seater Cars(I have also attached a detail bench marking presentation, this report complements the presentation, and provide more information about the study, methodology, key findings and final conclusion)
Introduction
In this benchmarking study, we evaluated four popular five-seater cars from four different brands, namely Honda Amaze S CVT 1.2 Petrol, Tata Nexon XM, Mahindra XUV300 W4 1.2 Petrol, and Kia Sonet HTK 1.2. The study aimed to help Mr. Pughazhyendhii make informed decisions when choosing a base model of a five-seater car. We compared the cars based on their features, performance, fuel efficiency, safety, and pricing.
Methodology
To conduct this benchmarking study, we only considered the base models of each car, and we only analyzed their petrol variants. We assumed that the price difference between the petrol and diesel variants would not be significant after the introduction of BS6 vehicles. We evaluated the cars based on their technical specifications, features, fuel efficiency ratings, and safety ratings.
Findings
Honda Amaze S CVT 1.2 Petrol
The Honda Amaze offers excellent fuel efficiency, with a rating of 18.3 kmpl. Its automatic CVT transmission with paddle shift and a suspension system tuned for comfort make it a comfortable ride. However, the base variant lacks several features that its competitors offer, and it is priced higher than some of them.
Tata Nexon XM
The Tata Nexon offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with good legroom and headroom. It delivers good fuel efficiency, making it ideal for city driving. However, the ride quality is not as smooth as some of its competitors, especially on rough roads. Additionally, the engine can get noisy at higher speeds.
Mahindra XUV300 W4 1.2 Petrol
The Mahindra XUV300 offers the most powerful engine among the four cars. The cabin is quite spacious, but the boot space is insufficient for a family of five. The base variant is also less feature-packed than its competitors, and it is priced higher even though it offers fewer features.
Kia Sonet HTK 1.2
The Kia Sonet offers a modern and spacious cabin that can accommodate five passengers. Its boot space is quite large, making it an ideal family car. It comes with four airbags, making it the only car in this benchmarking study to offer this feature. Additionally, it offers better features and mileage than its competitors. However, the performance may feel sluggish when fully loaded, and the rear visibility is limited during parking or reversing.
Conclusion
Based on our analysis, the Kia Sonet appears to be the most suitable choice for customers looking for a base model five-seater car. It offers a spacious cabin, a large boot space, modern features, and good mileage. It is also budget-friendly and offers better value for money than its competitors. On the other hand, the Honda Amaze, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300 have several drawbacks, including higher prices, insufficient features, and lower fuel efficiency ratings.
